In case you missed it, the Class of 2027 Rankings Update dropped on New Year's Eve. I wrote an overarching piece on the update. Then we turned our attention towards writing about student-athletes grouped by position.

At this stage of the game, we've written quite a few words on members of this graduating class. Many of the seniors-to-be in these rankings have become known names along the prospecting trail.

While we'll continue to write about that group, we wanted to dive into guys being highlighted in our positional breakdowns that have received less attention or are being introduced to the data base for the first time. It just kept with our goal of writing about as many student-athletes as possible.

Today, we take a closer look at guys on the offensive line:

Southeast Polk has become known for churning out championships and prospects for the next level. The Rams didn't achieve the five-peat this year, but they certainly had a roster filled with talent. Lee was among that group of individuals. Not the tallest guy in the trenches, the junior takes cares of business with leverage, power and athleticism. Operating as the center, Lee shows a great feel for handling the responsibilities of the O-Line's most involved position. He's quick and consistent in getting the ball to the quarterback. From there, he explodes into his opponent, often putting him on his heels. Lee wins with strength and a nasty streak as we can witness when watching his 11th-grade highlight video. He reports deadlifting 550 pounds.

Huisman contributed 6.5 tackles, including 1.5 stops for loss in 2025, but most of his production came as the Spartans' starting left offensive tackle. Grundy Center swept the competition until a loss in the Class 1A state semifinals ended its quest for a fourth consecutive title. Huisman is technically sound and agile, which helps him overcome not being a bigger guy on the offensive front. He performs with balance and optimal hand placement. It would be interesting to see what Huisman could become on defense with his set of skills, too. His frame is capable of adding plenty of good weight, which gives him a decent amount of upside from here.

My only complaint about Coleman is that there's a limited amount of his video highlights available on his Hudl page. That's because what we can see is intriguing. Operating in one of the more sound programs in the Quad Cities area, Coleman stands out on the offensive line. He's big and powerful in the run game. He's moves well and is agile in pass protection. Physicality is a big part of Coleman's game, and he makes it a habit of playing through the whistle. The Wildcats utilize his skills at right guard from what we can see on his clips, but it's a foundation that would work well at center, too.

Ferrell chipped in a pair of solo tackles this season, but his main contributions occurred on the offensive line. The junior helped pave the way for 2,191 rushing yards rolled up by the Tigers in 2025. They also added 720 yards through the air. When watching his 11th-grade highlight video, we see Ferrell stand out for his combination of agility and physicality. Spencer takes advantage of it by allowing him to manhandle the opponent in close quarters and getting him out in space where he can pick off defenders when pulling or reaching the second level. Ferrell's versatility would work at center or at defensive tackle, too.

Kalb could work on either side of the ball depending on how a college views him. His power and strength play on the interior of the offensive line. He might be a space-eater delivering production from the middle of the D-Line. We see those possibilities when watching his junior highlight video at Treynor. He absorbs blocks, taking up real estate and then separating with active hands when the ball comes his way. As an offensive guard, he gets off of the snap quickly. In the run game, power and pad level help him pave the way for positive yards. Kalb's balance and smooth footwork make him effective in pass protection.

It what was an overall difficult season for the Trojans, Phillips did what he could to foster growth for himself and the program. His performance provides hope that a step forward can be taken in 2026. Phillips possesses a set of skills that could work on the defensive line, but he's been developed and is more advanced as an O-Lineman. We can witness that when watching his junior highlight video from this fall. Phillips mixes sound fundamentals with strength and athleticism. His projectable frame is capable of adding plenty of good weight, which gives him a sizable ceiling. He's athletic, which is evidenced by him playing for the East basketball team, too.
