The 2024 1 Vizion 8th Grade All-Star Game is sure to entertain, as it feature many of Northern California's--San Jose to be specific--top talents in the class of 2029. In addition to the prospects already covered in our Top-10 Draft Pick Breakdown, Running Back Scouting Report and Quarterback Breakdown, the Skill Position guys below are ones that impressed me on film. With the game taking place this weekend, we'll see how it all plays out. Let's take a look.

The future St. John Bosco Brave is an absolute steal of a pick at No. 11 overall. In an All-Star Game format it makes sense that some of the better linemen would be drafted early, but with that comes complete studs like [player_tooltip player_id='874419' first='David' last='Plunkett III'] "falling" later in the draft. Despite missing five games this year, the ATH still put up video game numbers for Coyote Creek. Lining up as a Running Back, Wide Receiver and Defensive Back, he accounted for 614 Total yards, eight total touchdowns, five solo tackles and six PBUs.

Sometimes a Quarterback's best friend is a good running game, yet other times it's a Wide Receiver they can trust to just simply come down with the ball--and that's [player_tooltip player_id='828912' first='Kaden' last='Herman']. A bigger, physical Wide Receiver at 6-foot and 165 pounds. Would argue that he's one of the better 50/50 ball guys in Northern California, as of January 2025. Goes and gets the ball like it's his every single time. The San Jose Hit Squad product has good enough speed right now, but his change of direction is what sticks out most. Plants a foot and gets moving again with relative ease. Look for him to be a force in the red zone.

Another absolute steal of a prospect to get at the No.15 overall pick in the 2025 1 Vizion 8th Grade All-Star Game draft. While some of the other prospects in this game shine at their primary position and are good at their secondary position, [player_tooltip player_id='1602952' first='Ethan' last='Ramos'] is a stud at both Wide Receiver and Free Safety. Watching some of his film from this year, the three-sport athlete plays with balance, spacial awareness and crazy hand-eye coordination. Either has natural instincts or has been coached up extremely well as a WR. Love how he comes back to the ball and uses the sideline as a buffer. Also does a great job of high-pointing the ball, on both offense and defense.

Depending on how you ask, sometimes Linebackers aren't considered true "skill guys", but we're rolling with it in this write up. Martinez, like David Plunket III, is another kids off a Coyote Creek team that reached the 14U Pop Warner Super Bowl this past season. Just this morning I spoke with a coach that played against Coyote Creek and they were quick to point out that Martinez was a standout at the Linebacker position. Very strong kid and well-put together. Looks physically mature and plays with an attitude, just as all good Linebackers do. Look for him to make some serious noise on the Varsity level at Valley Christian, as early as next year as a freshman.

For further proof of the talent that is lined up for the 2025 1 Vizion 8th Grade All-Star Game, Bayside Bronco's 14U Overall Team MVP [player_tooltip player_id='1522312' first='Tristan' last='Trinidad'] didn't come off the board until pick No.22 overall--which is absurd. A three-sport athlete that is an instant factor in all three phases of the game. Finished the 2024 season with seven offensive touchdowns and averaged 33 yards per reception. Defensively, reeled in a pair of interceptions--one of which was a 60-yard pic-six--in addition to 25 tackles and five PBUs. On Special Teams, he had four punt returns and over 200 yards in kick return yards. As you'd imagine speed, quickness and COD are major keys in Trinidad's game. At the 1 Vizion Combine before the draft, he recorded the best time of all the athletes in both the 3-Cone Drill (7.46) and Shuttle (4.21).

On film there are a ton of similarities between [player_tooltip player_id='1603062' first='Cory' last='Hall Jr.'] and the No.22 overall pick [player_tooltip player_id='1522312' first='Tristan' last='Trinidad']. Both are smaller Wide Receivers, yet are very impressive when it comes to quickness. During the 2024 season, Hall Jr. proved to be a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball. Offensively is where I've seen the most film and I like what I see. Though he is certainly on the smaller side, his on-field production and pre-draft combine numbers are extremely strong. As one of the top targets for [player_tooltip player_id='1602252' first='Kalvin' last='Bishop'] (No.2 overall pick), he helped the Warriors reach the semifinals of the 13U D2 Pop Warner Super Bowl. At the 1 Vizion Combine before the draft, he finished with an electronically timed 4.51 in the shuttle (4th overall), 4.9 in the forty (3rd overall), a 28" vertical (2nd overall).

The third Coyote Creek product in this write up alone, Shaffer is another kid who lit up the 1 Vizion Combine testing ahead of the draft. The slippery Cornerback/Wide Receiver combo was a true combine warrior, as he was the only prospect to finish with a Top-5 score in every combine drill. Shaffer finished with an electronically timed 4.86 in the forty (2nd overall), a 7.75 in the 3-Cone Drill (5th overall), a 4.44 in the Shuttle (3rd overall) and a 27.5" in the vertical (3rd overall). No matter how you slice it, or what position you want to try to label him as, the kid is an athlete. I'd be shocked if he doesn't make at least one play that makes people wonder why he wasn't drafted earlier.
