Uncovered Gems #16 - OK Red Offense #3

This article is all about underclassmen. In fact, we have a few VERY impressive underclassmen who should make their mark on Varsity next season. We've got five players total, with Hudsonville, East Kentwood, Grand Haven, and West Ottawa represented!    Snip could very realistically be the starter for Hudsonville as soon as the 2026 season! Even as a freshman, his highlights remind me a lot of this year's Hudsonville QB, [player_tooltip player_id='1290565' first='Griffin' last='Baker'].   In Treyson's first highlight, he rolls out to the right and delivers a strike to an improvised route to the sidelines. Great throw on the run from Treyson, but also great awareness from his WR. His second highlight shows off an excellent designed run. Great blocking from his line to open up a huge hole, then phenomenal job fighting through contact to get the ball inside the 5. In fact, I think that's his best trait. I've seen a lot more teams (including Hudsonville) run QB power/counter/etc, making it SO important to have a tough, athletic QB.   Keep it up in the weight room, polish up that throwing motion, and learn how to read coverages. Treyson has a very high ceiling, and I hope he reaches that ceiling!      A solid sophomore season for [player_tooltip player_id='1241162' first='Bryce' last='Barnes']. At the JV level, Bryce made plenty of plays as an outside receiver. Lots of the time, deep routes showcasing his solid speed. Plays at 0:00 and 0:32 demonstrate this.   Other times (0:18, 0:39, etc) Bryce catches a quick hitch and does his best to work upfield. I will say- Bryce needs to work on his route running. All routes (mostly fades, hitches, ins/dig) need quite a bit of polish. Especially because he's on a very big roster with a ton of receivers, Bryce will need to earn every varsity snap.      Yet another Hudsonville receiver with a highlight tape!   Treyson is extremely raw at the moment but still earned a fair amount of touches. I would assume that his first three highlights account for most of his touches. Generally, Treyson needs to play with more confidence and all-around play speed. On jet sweeps, he struggles to find open space. On all plays, he struggles to be physical. Treyson actually has a ton of blocking highlights, but brings little physicality to the table. That's OK for now- but heading into next season, Treyson needs to improve his play speed and physicality first and foremost.      Grand Haven has a ton of great up-and-coming talent! I've watched a few great underclassman prospects from GH over the past week, and Amani is just the latest of the bunch.   Amani's first highlight showcases a solid wheel route followed by excellent ball tracking and toe-tapping sideline catch. Second, he lays out a DB on the outside run block. At 0:25, Amani makes a great inside run stop as an LB, and at 0:32, Amani catches a goal-line fade.   Super impressive highlights as a sophomore. Already, I'd call Amani a Division 3 prospect. He'll be ranked next update and I can't wait to see what he'll accomplish next season!      Another great sophomore receiver in the OK Red.   Route-running, athleticism, and blocking: Abel is above average in all of those categories. Love his second highlight (0:25), where Abel makes a phenomenal back-shoulder grab. Likewise, his highlight at 1:18 shows a very physical block.   There are a few routes that are a bit sloppy, but a few that are quite polished. Become a little more consistent in route running, keep up the athletic training, practice contact balance, and Abel could be an all-OK receiver next season.
