Taking his team into the Class 1A semifinals and a 14-1 record as a senior, Surber capped off his high school career by winning “Mr. Football”. He earned this honor after throwing for 3,177 yards and 36 touchdowns with a 67 percent completion percentage while also running for 1,212 yards and 28 touchdowns on the ground. Those are some filthy numbers!! Going into today's announcements, there was no question in my mind who earned and deserved this top honor as Surber put together one of the best individual performances of all-time in Tennessee HS football history!

Coming off a breakout junior year and a runner-up finish in the title game, Peete received good news on Tuesday afternoon as have named Mr. Football for the 2A ranks. The Bulldogs running back torched defenses this year for 2,235 yards and 31 touchdowns. Peete also hauled in 10 receptions for 272 yards through the air and three scores. His performance this year not only earned 2A top honors but also boosted his recruiting stock while placing himself on the map as one of the top backs in Volunteer State moving forward.

Smith has been one of the more consistent performers in this state from his running back position throughout his career, so it's nice to see such a hard worker leave high school as Mr. Football. The Chargers senior back achieved top honors today after a stellar year that saw him run for 2,220 yards and 41 touchdowns. He also contributed six touchdowns in the passing game as well, showing off his versatility in the backfield. Going into the winter months, Smith sits as one of the best available senior backs left from our #TN2025 and would be a steal for whoever he signs with.

Stepping into the starter role for the first time in his career, Thompson broke out in a big way by leading his team to a 13-1 record, a region championship while ending the 2024 season as Class 4A Mr. Football. He certainly earned this top honor a highly productive year that saw him throw for 2,824 yards on 182 completions and 45 touchdowns. That touchdown is a school record that might hold up for a long time but Thompson has a shot to beat it as he returns next year for his senior season.

Harassing quarterbacks since his freshman season, Hazzard leaves his high school career at Page as Mr. Football while going down as one of the top sack artists of all-time in state history. The Patriots senior edge rusher earned this achievement after another strong season where he produced over 40 tackles and six sacks on the year while also contributing on offense and special teams. Hazzard was a driving force this season behind another region win and another appearance in the 5A championship game. Next year you will see chasing after quarterbacks in the ACC at the University of Louisville.

Headed to Auburn for his college days, Starr wrapped up his work at Ravenwood by becoming Mr. Football after a strong senior year that saw him make plays in three different ways. The Raptors senior defensive back handle business on defense by locking down receivers but also used his speed to produce big plays on offense that helped his Raptors team towards a region title and #1 seed in the playoffs. He was also a key piece on special teams with his return game. This was the best season yet from Starr and a prelude to what you may see on the college level.

A starter for NCS since his freshman season, Curtis had his best year yet where he threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns on the way to winning a state championship and today, winning Mr. Football. The Eagles junior quarterback is considered one of the top prospects in the state and it's for good reason. Curtis is well gifted physically with a powerful right arm and the athleticism to do damage with his legs. Those skills were on full display this season and he could do even better next year as a senior where he repeats as Mr. Football.

Your 2024 D2-Class AA Mr. Football winner is this West Tennessee talent that put up monster stats this season while leading his Bruins team to a region title. Spencer was the focal point of the Bruins offense as he ran for 2,195 yards on 211 carries along with 32 rushing touchdowns. He didn't just run the ball but Spencer also contributed in the pass game as well where he caught 29 passes for 480 yards and five touchdowns while also providing 29 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 3 interceptions on defense. It was a monster year that certainly boosted and enhanced his recruiting stock.

Making his debut in the United State with Baylor this season, Gabriel-Georges definitely made his name known, becoming a key force behind the team's championship run that ended with this native Canadian coming home with Mr. Football. What's impressive about this season for Gabriel-Georges is that he didn't start to come on until mid-September where he took over the lead role in the backfield and made it to where his coaches couldn't take him off the field. Crazy thing is that the Red Raiders ball carrier has two years left here in Tennessee, so expect to hear more and more about this guy over the coming years.
