Chris Smith | Prep Redzone Scout
Harassing quarterbacks since his freshman season, Hazzard leaves his high school career at Page as Mr. Football while going down as one of the top sack artists of all-time in state history. The Patriots senior edge rusher earned this achievement after another strong season where he produced over 40 tackles and six sacks on the year while also contributing on offense and special teams. Hazzard was a driving force this season behind another region win and another appearance in the 5A championship game. Next year you will see chasing after quarterbacks in the ACC at the University of Louisville.

The state’s top sack artist might prove to be the biggest difference maker in this championship matchup. Hazzard has a nose for the backfield and his pressure against Newman will be needed to slow down a potent Smoky Bears offense. If this future Louisville Cardinal is able to go unblocked and harass Newman throughout the game, I feel the Patriots will have a great shot at coming home as a state champion.

, an edge/defensive lineman at Page High School. Hazzard catches my attention with his ability to read the offense like a book, quickly apply pressure on the quarterback and his ability to consistently shut down consistent offensive production. I also like Hazzard’s awareness, proving he can get in front of receivers for the interception.

Everyone across the state knows this guy and his impact on the field. Since starting as a freshman, Hazzard has been the best pass rusher in the state and helped lead his Patriots team to three state title appearances but has yet to take home the “Gold Ball”. You can bet that Hazzard and his teammates are laser focused on finishing the job this year and his play will be critical towards doing so. Teams have purposely tried to work away from the Pats edge defender this year but Hazzard has still produced. It’s possible his best work of the season comes in the playoffs and if it is, Page may finally bring home that elusive state championship.

In addition to applying great pressure, Hazzard impressed me with his ability to elevate off the ground to quickly swat the pass.

One of the best defensive prospects in the state, Hazzard was unblockable last night as the Cougars coaching staff didn’t have any answers for this future Louisville Cardinal as he wreaked havoc in their backfield all night long. This senior defender was a man among boys on Friday evening. Hazzard displayed a variety of pass rush moves to get around the edge while also showing the range to chase down the ball on the opposite sideline. He played a violent brand of football versus the Cougars as well. There was nothing Centennial could do to stop Hazzard as he was a one man wrecking crew that stayed in the oppositions backfield from start to finish.

, a defensive lineman at Page High School. On top of great size and execution off the snap, Hazzard impressed me with his ability to make his presence known on both sides of the ball. Against Coffee County Central, Hazzard hauled in an impressive pick-six and came down with a clutch hail mary pass on the other side with only a few seconds left on the clock.
