Broomfield to line it up with Montrose in the Class 4A State Title Game

The Class 4A State title game features two teams who have nothing in common besides hard work and consistency. Broomfield will spread you out, light up the score board, and force you to keep up, while Montrose will make you to load up the box, and force you to get in a slugfest for four quarters.

Broomfield is led offensively by Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='404987' first='Darien' last='Jackson'], who has thrown for 1,648 yards, 20 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes. Jackson is not what you would call a Dual-Threat QB, but he's athletic enough to extend plays with his legs, and find open wideouts when coverages break down. He hands the ball off to Broomfield's leading rusher Senior RB [player_tooltip player_id='232169' first='Colin' last='Torres'], a physical downhill runner who has rushed for 1,123 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 8 yards per carry.

Jackson's leading receiver has been Senior two-way star [player_tooltip player_id='404963' first='Mikhail' last='Benner'] who's hauled in 23 passes for 551 yards, and 9 TDs, while averaging an insane 24 yards per reception.

I'd be remiss, if I didn't mention Junior OL star [player_tooltip player_id='401307' first='Evan' last='Haines']. Big man is so much fun to watch while he works in the trenches.

Defensively, the Eagles are led by Senior Two-Way Star Ty Lacrue, who's been an absolute game wrecker. Having recorded 34 Tackles, 3 for a loss, and 5 sacks. Senior LB [player_tooltip player_id='1506842' first='Brendan' last='Fritch'] leads the Eagles in tackling with 70, 1 for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. The Eagles feature arguably the best secondary in class 4A. Aforementioned [player_tooltip player_id='404963' first='Mikhail' last='Benner'], 2 interceptions, 5 pass breakups. [player_tooltip player_id='448875' first='Mason' last='Smiley'] 5 interceptions, 8 pass breakups. And Junior DB John Singleton who is one is one of the most technically sound DB prospects in the 2026 class with 4 interceptions, and 3 pass breaks.

The Eagles' offensive X-Factor is one of my favorite players in the state in Senior ATH [player_tooltip player_id='251319' first='CT' last='Worley'], who's received quite a few PWO offers from G5 D1 Programs "just give him the scholarship, he's worth it". CT has added 429 All-Purposes yards while finding the endzone on 10 occasions. Defensively he's recorded 46 Tackles, 5 for a loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. The kid can flat out play football, and I can't wait to watch him this weekend.

Montrose is shrouded in mystery. This mountain community of 20,000+ has minimal social media presence, and their stats are non-existent on Max Preps. What I can tell you, is that they run an old school offense often rotating between a double wing and wing-t style offense. They'll lean heavily on their three headed monster in Junior RB [player_tooltip player_id='1614369' first='Elijah' last='Womack'], Junior RB [player_tooltip player_id='1620913' first='Chase' last='Mehan'], and Senior RB Aidan Grijalva.

Defensively, they're a swarming defense that'll hit you for four quarters.

This game will likely come down to a few key factors:

1. Can Montrose handle the sheer size of Broomfield in the trenches?
2. Will Montrose be able to contain the speed of Broomfield's offensive playmakers?
3. Can Broomfield stop this throwback offense after giving up 9.5 yards per carry the week prior?
4. Who can stop [player_tooltip player_id='251319' first='CT' last='Worley'] from having a big game on both sides of the ball?
