The Class 2A-2 state championship game is set! #1 Vian will square off with #6 Davis in Edmond on Saturday at 1PM. This is the first season that Class 2A has been split into two divisions and this will be the first 2A-2 state championship game. While it might be the first, it also feels like a throwback match-up to a decade ago, when Davis and Vian were two of the best teams in the old 64-team Class 2A. For Vian, they've expected to be in this position. The Wolverines have been on top of our 2A-2 rankings since they came out in June. They look to wrap up a perfect season with a win on Saturday. In this breakdown, we're putting the spotlight on five Vian Wolverines to keep an eye on Saturday afternoon. These five players have had terrific 2024 campaigns and will look to impact Saturday's game. Keep it locked into Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more state championship preview content!

[player_tooltip player_id='1573294' first='Adoff' last='Stahl'] - Sophomore Defensive Back

Vian's offense is incredibly explosive but don't overlook how dominant this defense can be. And when it comes to the Wolverine defense, look for sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1573294' first='Adoff' last='Stahl'] to have a strong showing on Saturday afternoon. Stahl leads the team in tackles and interceptions from the secondary. We knew that the Wolverines had a chance to be pretty special coming into this season but Stahl was not a player that was on our radar. It didn't take long for him to do just that. Stahl has been outstanding this season and he's been incredibly consistent. While the secondary might not come into play with pass defense against a run-first Davis squad, Stahl making tackles in the open field will be very important.

[player_tooltip player_id='1473203' first='Cash' last='Collins'] - Senior Defensive Lineman

When we look at this match-up on paper, the line of scrimmage, particularly on defense is going to be so important. Both teams can absolutely run the football and whoever can get stops is going to be in a good position Saturday afternoon. And Vian's front seven is incredibly aggressive and can shut opponents down. Senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1473203' first='Cash' last='Collins'] is a player that really impressed us back in September when we watched the Wolverines in person. Look for Collins to be incredibly impactful on the line of scrimmage against the Davis rushing attack. Collins has been very productive this season and he could be primed for a big night. And when Collins isn't making a play, he's clogging lanes for the linebackers to do just that.

[player_tooltip player_id='1322378' first='Cash' last='Trammel'] - Junior Quarterback

Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1322378' first='Cash' last='Trammel'] came into the Vian program as a newcomer but he established himself as QB1 of the Wolverines this fall. While Vian had several packages with running backs taking direct snaps, Trammel was the primary player to throw the ball and push it downfield. Trammel has thrown for over 800 yards and 18 touchdowns with only five interceptions. Now, a common theme in this match-up is the running game and we might not see too many passes between these two championship opponents. But Trammel has shown that he can make things happen with his arm if defenses start to creep up and try to slow down their rushing game. He's had a terrific first season with Vian.

[player_tooltip player_id='913366' first='Jacob' last='Brannick'] - Senior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

Senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='913366' first='Jacob' last='Brannick'] has had a terrific senior campaign and looks to finish it off with a state championship. Brannick came into this season as Vian's top target and he's been just that. He leads the team in receiving with 26 catches for well over 500 yards and 12 touchdowns. Now, similar to Davis, Vian does the majority of their damage on the ground but that has absolutely worked in Brannick's favor. Defenses have to come up to try and slow down their rushing attack and because of that, it's left Brannick in a lot of one on one situations and he's been able to excel in those scenarios. In the one Vian game we watched in person, Brannick had a pair of touchdowns and an interception on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] - Junior Running Back/Linebacker

We've said this before and we'll say it again here. [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] is one of the best football players in Oklahoma this season. Wright looks to cap off a phenomenal junior season with a state championship. This season, Wright comes into this week with just under 2,000 yards on the ground and 34 touchdowns. He's had multiple games this season where the majority of times he touched the ball, he ended up in the end zone. We've watched a lot of football this season and Wright has been one of the best players we've watched in person. We couldn't have higher praise of Wright and now he has a chance to shine on the state's biggest stage. We're looking forward to seeing how he performs on Saturday.
