The Mt. Hood Conference in 2024 was very much a showcase for Oregon's perennial powerhouse, Central Catholic, which continued to set a high standard of excellence. While the Rams reasserted their dominance, the rest of the conference worked to close the gap, finding small victories in growth, renewed energy, and moments of promise. As we continue our conference review series, we'll take a closer look at how each team navigated the season, celebrating the standout performances and exploring what the future may hold for these programs.

1. His size, strength, and athleticism jump off the charts, so he is headed to Seattle to play in the Big Ten. Nelson will miss him next year.

Durdahl has been the starter at Nelson for as long as I have been a scout at Prep Redzone. It will be weird to watch Nelson next year and not see him conducting the Hawks offense. Durdahl had another solid season, and I expect his recruitment to heat up soon.

Top Underclassman:

With the proper offseason, Katoanga will get some big-time offers at DB. He took home conference first-team DB honors and will be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate next season. Nelson is fortunate to have him back next season.

C/O 2025 Recruitment Updates:

[player_tooltip player_id='527045' first='Dominic' last='Macon'] - Signed with Washington.

2025 Outlook: Like I mentioned earlier, replacing Durdahl will be a challenge for the Hawks, one that may come with some bumps as they start the next season. Nelson should be competing for a playoff spot again next year, and we will see if they can make it once more.

3. Clackamas Cavaliers (6-4) Lost in Round 1

Key Games:

Week 3 - Big win over Sandy 34-31 as this ultimately decided third place in the conference and helped them sneak into the playoffs.

Round 1 - Ran into a formidable Sprage squad who ended their season early in the playoffs 12-41.

Star Players:

Aguilar moved from Milwaukie to Clackamas this year and had a solid season. He has the size and athleticism that make college coaches interested, and he had solid productivity this year, moving up from 4A competition to 6A competition.

Baker is the ultimate athlete and utility player on the field. He can play anywhere you need him to.
