The Sandy offense was firing on all cylinders in their 58–6 victory over McMinnville, thanks in large part to their rushing attack, led by McMahon. The senior carried the load with 139 rushing yards and two touchdowns, gashing McMinnville’s defense with his physical running style. McMahon’s consistency and ability to finish drives made it nearly impossible for the opposition to slow Sandy down. With this kind of production, the Pioneers have jumped out to a solid 2–1 start.

Sandy’s senior leader this year is McMahon, who returns after a dominant junior campaign on both sides of the ball. Coach Dill called him “one of the top players in the state of Oregon,” and it’s hard to argue with that. A physical, downhill runner with excellent vision and burst, McMahon rushed for 676 yards and 10 touchdowns on just 77 carries, averaging nearly nine yards per attempt. He added 279 yards and a score as a receiver, and defensively led the team with 82 tackles, including seven for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, and four forced fumbles. Dill emphasized, “Caden is our leader. He works his butt off and is a very physical football player.”

McMahon is one of my favorite players to watch in the whole state as he flies around the field with incredible awareness and physicality. He will run through you or over you, depending on what side of the ball he is on. I expect McMahon to have a huge senior year.

Sandy has once again developed another hard-nosed stud. The physicality with Caden stood out to me most, especially as a sophomore. He looked like a senior out there, which excited me to see what he would look like this season and next. As someone who grew up playing Sandy my whole life as a Centennial alum, I know this kid and the rest of the Sandy squad will be hitting the weight room hard this offseason. Caden is a kid who I could see being one of the better players in the state within the next two years.
