Perkins saved his best individual performance for the last regular season game of the year as the Jaguars junior quarterback was near flawless in the team's Week Eleven victory. Throwing only two incompletions on the night, Perkins tossed the ball 16 times for 312 yards and an impressive seven passing touchdowns. The reigning 5A Mr. Football has quietly put together another strong campaign that could have him in the mix for that individual award yet again.

A steady force within the Bees backfield, Palk had his best game of the year last Friday in the team's commanding win over DeKalb County. The Upperman senior has done a lot for his Bees this year from being the lead back on offense while also being the team's leading tackler on defense. Palk is a warrior that will do anything tasked to him and will be expected to continue his strong play as we start playoff action this Friday with the Bees at home versus Signal Mountain.

Defeating Overton last week 48-13, the Admirals received an outstanding performance from their defense with Elmore being at the front of those efforts. Throughout the night, Elmore was a force in the Bobcats backfield where he harassed the quarterback all night long on the way to five tackles for loss and two sacks. The Admirals senior edge rusher must continue this kind of play moving forward as Franklin hits the road to take on a talented Antioch team in Round One of the TN High School football playoffs.

Upperman Bees

- The Bees front five have been steady all year long and continued their excellent play in last week's 41-0 win over DeKalb County. Upperman ran all over the Tigers defense on the way to 400 plus yards while holding up well with their pass blocking. It's a young unit in the trenches for Upperman but they have gotten better each step of the way this season and could return as one of the better offensive lines for the 2025 season. One guy on this line to pay attention to over the next two years is current sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1566197' first='Parker' last='Cox']. Look for this unit to continue their strong play, starting this Friday in Round One of the playoffs.

Team of the Week

Westview Chargers

- It's been a banner year for the Chargers that ended the regular season in dramatic fashion as they won their region title last Friday over Covington, 59-54. This was one of the better games of the 2024 season and one that saw freshman [player_tooltip player_id='424594' first='Graham' last='Simpson'] go nuts with over 600 yards passing and eight touchdowns. Both teams went back and forth in this game, scoring at will until the very end where the home Chargers went ahead for good. Westview has been explosive on offense all season long and I expect that to continue in the coming playoffs with a possibility of going all the way to the 3A championship game.

QB POTW: ‘28 [player_tooltip player_id='424594' first='Graham' last='Simpson'] - Westview

- If the completion percentage was a bit higher, Simpson might have been our offensive player of the week after throwing for more than 600 yards and eight touchdowns during the Chargers region title win over Covington. The playoffs begin Friday, so I'm looking to see how this freshman performs through the toughest part of the season.

RB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='344645' first='Harrison' last='Edwards'] - Lebanon

- Needing to beat Gallatin to earn the final playoff spot, Edwards showed up big in the biggest game of the season where this senior ball carrier ran for 213 yards on only 13 carries while producing three touchdowns on the night.

WR POTW: Lance Burchette - Clay Co.

- The Bulldogs earned a region title in last week's win over Gordonsville and Burchette was a major contributor in the team's 42-35 victory. This senior wideout was nearly unstoppable as he hauled in 11 passes for 197 yards and two scores on the night while also contributing good action over on defense as well.

ATH POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1557124' first='Devonte' last='Wigfall'] - Cosby

- Wigfall has been a steady force on the Eagles squad this year with last Friday being one of his best performances of the season. Going both ways this year, Wigfall produced big on both sides of the ball where he added two scores on 133 yards receiving while picking off two passes on defense.

Stats: 5 rec. for 133 yds & 2 TD's (3 tcks, 1 TFL & 2 Int's on Def.)

DL/Edge POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1542383' first='Corbyn' last='Harris'] - Lewis Co.

- The Panthers are coming off a commanding 41-0 win over Waverly with Harris causing issues in the Tigers backfield all night long. This senior edge defender had one of his best games of the year as he produced 8 total tackles along with three tackles for loss and two sacks on the night. This is an underrated talent with long term potential for the college level.

LB POTW: ‘26 [player_tooltip player_id='1657165' first='Dom' last='Culp'] - Knox. Halls

- Culp has been a regular within our weekly awards this year and here he is yet again after another stellar individual performance. The Red Devils linebacker was everywhere in the team's win in Week Eleven as Culp produced 17 total tackles, four of them for loss and 1 sack. His motor will definitely be needed and used heavily in the playoffs, beginning this Friday.

Stats: 17 tcks, 4 TFL & 1 sack

- - -

DB POTW: De'Shun Tipton - McCallie

- The Blue Tornado added a strong win last week versus Lipscomb Academy where this junior defensive back was a nuisance against the Mustangs offense. Tipton is a team first guy that will do anything to win and that shows in his stats last week with 7 tackles, one pass defensed and one interception.

Stats: 7 tcks, 1 PD & 1 Int
