Page Defeats Centennial 49-7

Page continued to prove why they are still an undefeated ball club on Friday night, rolling over Centennial by a final score of 49-7. After witnessing the Patriots' blowout victory over the Cougars at Centennial High School, here's my list of top performers as well as my full game recap.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Performers</h2>    Making a huge impression on both sides of the ball was [player_tooltip player_id='390716' first='Brenden' last='Anes'], a linebacker at Page High School. On top of some great defensive stops, Anes caught my attention on the offensive end, punching in two touchdowns in the second half. What makes Anes so explosive is his size and strength in the pocket, showcasing his ability to bully the defensive line on his way into the endzone.   <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16114891/64ecc0bb15f75e0ae8f72712">Tape:</a>     Earning MVP for his performance on the defensive side of the ball is [player_tooltip player_id='219439' first='Eric' last='Hazzard'], an edge/defensive lineman at Page High School. Hazzard was impossible to contain, showcasing his ability to read the offense like a book and consistently attack the quarterback. In addition to applying great pressure, Hazzard impressed me with his ability to elevate off the ground to quickly swat the pass.   <a href="http://www.hudl.com/video/3/15037841/66e50f62801e22eaa1beca16">Tape:</a>     Making his presence known at the helm of the offense was Mitchell Grandjean, a quarterback at Page High School. Grandjean was highly explosive under center, proving his ability to both complete the touchdown pass and blast into the house himself for the score. I also liked how Grandjean responded to pressure, utilizing his footwork and electric speed off the snap to juke out defenders and pick up crucial extra yards.   <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14945484/6562784e90ef3803e4d2bc3d">Tape:</a>     Making a considerable difference down the stretch was [player_tooltip player_id='540028' first='Knight' last='Wilson'], a defensive back at Page High School. Wilson was a huge offensive playmaker for the Patriots, hauling in two touchdowns on the night. What impressed me about Wilson was his ability to break tackles after the catch and elevate off the ground to beat defenders in the backfield.   <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2QXbQD">Tape:</a>     Catching my attention on both sides of the ball was [player_tooltip player_id='310897' first='Kani'' last='Johnson'], an athlete at Centennial High School. Johnson provided outstanding coverage on the defensive end, using his wingspan to be disruptive. I also liked how Johnson performed offensively, proving he can move the chains on third-down and haul in the impressive touchdown pass.   <a href="http://www.hudl.com/video/3/16100866/6399ee4d17634a0e28e38474">Tape:</a>     Another gamechanger to catch my attention is Presley Cozart, a running back at Page High School. Cozart made his presence known in the final stretch of play, helping the Patriots close out the game offensively. What impressed me about Cozart was his ability to spot openings in the defensive line and absorb defensive contact en route to the endzone. Cozart extended the Patriots' lead with three minutes remaining, punching into the endzone for the touchdown.   <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2MkbtF">Tape:</a>     Also worth mentioning is [player_tooltip player_id='1515703' first='Riley' last='Turner'], a quarterback at Centennial High School. Turner made some outstanding passes from start to finish, including a touchdown pass in the final minutes of the second quarter. Turner stands out with his ability to operate in the pocket and quickly scan the backfield for open receivers. I also liked how Turner could play quick off the snap and complete the short pass in crucial moments.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Recap</h2>   Page was unstoppable from start to finish, making the most of their time on offense in the first half. The Patriots would quickly find the scoreboard in the first quarter as Mitchell Grandjean connected with [player_tooltip player_id='540028' first='Knight' last='Wilson'] for the touchdown. The Patriots led the Cougars 7-0 with 9:24 left in the first quarter of action. It wasn't long before Page's offense was back in the house as the Patriots ran away with a 14-0 lead over Centennial. The Patriots would pull ahead with a third touchdown as Grandjean marched into the endzone himself for the touchdown. Page led Centennial 21-0 with 11:59 left in the first half. Centennial's offense would answer right before the half as [player_tooltip player_id='1515703' first='Riley' last='Turner'] connected with [player_tooltip player_id='310897' first='Kani'' last='Johnson'] for the clutch touchdown. The Cougars trailed the Patriots 21-7 at halftime. Page didn't take their foot off the gas in the second half of play as Grandjean found a wide open Wilson once again for the touchdown. Page took a 28-7 lead over Centennial with 10:42 left in the third quarter. The Patriots' offense continued to roll over the defense as [player_tooltip player_id='390716' first='Brenden' last='Anes'] utilized his strength to put another two touchdowns on the scoreboard. With five minutes left in the third quarter, Page led Centennial 42-7. The Patriots would put the game away in the fourth quarter as Presley Cozart blasted into the house for the final touchdown of the night. Page would go on to defeat Centennial 49-7.
