Midseason 2A Offensive Player of the Year Watchlist

<p>We're just over halfway through the regular season and after checking in with players by year, it's time to start preparing for our end of year awards. We're not sure exactly how, but we want to have a fan-voted element to this year's Player of the Year lists. That will come next month. For now, we wanted to give people an idea of where we stand with these awards.</p>   <p>While this list won't be exhaustive, there's a good chance our 2A Offensive Player of the Year comes from this list. Here are some guys we think could take home the award.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top 2A Offensive Player of the Year Candidates</h2>   <p>As a note here, while Prep Redzone typically focuses more on college potential than high school stats, this is a notable exception. We're not simply giving the award to the highest-ranked player in the class and will instead seek to give it to the player who has the biggest impact on the game in each class.</p>   <p>Accordingly, there will be high-profile players who don't even make our check-ins and watch lists and there might be some players on the lists that don't end up gaining much traction on the recruiting trail. That being said, these players are some of the best in their class and deserve to be recognized.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">The senior quarterback has been immaculate this year, throwing 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions so far in 2024. He's second in the 2A class in passing yards, despite being 18th in attempts. That's in large part due to his accuracy, as he's completing over 50% of his throws. He doesn't run often, but he's added five scores on the ground.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Farmer's non-conference stats were fairly pedestrian, but since he's gotten into conference play, he's consistently been among the best in the state. In conference play, Farmer is 40-50 with 911 yards and 16 passing touchdowns in just four games. Farmer has all the physical tools to be a big-time college prospect.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">The Air Force commit has Reidsville's rushing offense humming in 2024. He's averaging nearly 10 yards a carry and has already eclipsed the 1,200 yards he had last year, despite having afew games during which he didn't get many touches. In his last two, he's had over 400 yards on 50 carries with seven touchdowns.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Wilson is second in passing yards in the entire state, regardless of classification and is playing his best ball in the last few games. He has at least 350 yards in three of his last four games. That includes a 441-yard, four-touchdown game last time out. He's been solid with his legs, adding about 150 yards and three touchdowns to his 27 passing touchdown season.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Leftwich has been on out radar for a while and this season, he's really putting on a show, both as a receiver and a runner. After having just four career carries coming into 2024, Fisher has run for nine touchdowns on 31 carries in addition to his 11 touchdown catches on 47 receptions and nearly 1,000 receiving yards. As an offensive weapon, Leftwich might be the best in the state.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">While Spring Creek has struggled this season, Chambers was truly unstoppable in the non-conference. He leads the state in receiving thanks to three-straight 240-yard receiving games.
