Midseason 2025 Running Back Check-In

<p>Last week I checked in on the juniors midway through the season. This week, I'm working on the senior class. I started with the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/09/midseason-2025-quarterback-check-in/">quarterbacks</a>, but now it's time to look at the running backs. I'll check in on the top three running backs in our rankings, evaluate a few more who have had strong starts to the season and then list a few more we hope to evaluate soon.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Midseason Check-in: 2025 Running Backs</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Thomas has been excellent to start the season, both as a rusher and receiver. He's been efficient in limited touches, averaging eight yards a rush and 16 yards a reception through four games. He has great speed and can get to the edge. He was bottled up against Grimsley, but bounced back with strong games against Cardinal Gibbons and Athens Drive. Surrounded by playmakers, he still looks like one of the best players on the field.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Blue has continued his spectacular career as a senior, running for over 377 yards in three games. He's on a two-game streak of running for over 100 yards and is averaging nearly eight yards a carry, which is actually down a bit from his 10-yard average last season. He's a tough runner, which will help him fit well at Eastern Michigan, which is known as one of the tougher programs in the country.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">It's really nice to see Guest playing at a high level again after carrying the ball only nine times last season. He's flashed more as a consistent pass-catcher this season and has great physical tools. He's a one-cut back with elite speed. He's got great contact balance and flashes some power as well. Overall, he's a really talented back who we've followed for years. Hopefully, he can continue his strong senior season.</p>    <h3 class="wp-block-heading">2025 Running Backs Impressing Early</h3>   <p>Obviously, we're paying attention to what prospects outside of the top three are doing. Here are a few guys further down the rankings who are really impressing.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Willis is extremely elusive in the open field and can win with both speed and power. He's added weight in the offseason and it's helped him between the tackles. Typically a home run hitter, Willis has maintained that explosiveness while improving as a down-to-down runner. He's dangerous as a receiver and a returner and will find early success at the next level because of those skills.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">It's hard to find many players who have raised their stock as much as Flowe has so far this season. The wingback and safety has been unstoppable so far for Central Davidson, especially on the offensive side of the ball. He's been equally impressive before and after contact, accelerating through the line and also getting to the edge consistently. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">It's impossible to do any sort of running back check in artiicle without writing about Mitchell, who has been completely unstoppable this season. Mitchell is averaging over 200 rushing yards a game through five games and has made the opposition look silly. He's rising up our board, and he should be doing the same for colleges in the area.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other 2025 Running Backs Who Have Impressed</h2>   <p>Here are some more guys we've liked early.
