Knox's running game is one of the best in the state because of Mclaughlin's ability to read blocks, stay patient, and hit the hole. He's a downhill runner who doesn't waste time dancing in the hole. He sees it, hits it, and fights through traffic. On the year as of now, Mclaughlin is sitting with 1566 rushing yards and 25 TDs on the season. Both lead the state and it's hard to imagine he slows down anytime soon.

Hamilton is a speedy back who can rip off chunk after chunk. He's a state qualifier in track and field in the 100M dash, which shows when he's on the field. He gets to the corner, outruns everyone, and turns on the jets. He's shifty and makes defenders miss in small spaces. He's sitting with 1485 yards and 23 TDs as we enter the back half of the season.

We covered Harris on Monday after he put up a 300+ rushing-yard performance, but that was just 1 game. He's been dominant all year long and that's why he's here. He's had multiple 200+ yard games and because of that, he's one of the state's leading rushers. He's dynamic, smart, has great vision, and is as consistent as they come as a young HS back. With 1302 yards and 15 TDs on the season as of now, it's a good start for Harris and hopefully, he can wrap up the season the way he started.

One of the more underrated backs in the entire state is at it again. Castro is a big back who can take the punishment, and deliver it, in the trenches and interior runs. While a lot of backs like to bounce it to the outside, Castro will stay in the A and B gaps, lower his shoulder, and churn out hard-earned yards. He's not afraid of contact and oftentimes bounces off of DBs. With 1288 yards and 10 TDs on the year, Castro is right in line with where he should be. A tough and physical back earning his stripes in the interior is always a good way to get your name known.

Moore is in his second year starting and proving to have taken another step in his development. While he's not a big back, he understands his game and what he does well. Get him in space, let him find a sliver, and let him do the rest. Moore is great in zone running schemes and does a good job finding the hole and sticking his foot in the ground to get North/South. He's not on to break a ton of tackles but he's willing to lower his head and fight for the conversions. With 1242 rushing yards and 15 TDs as of now, he's on pace to blow his numbers from last year out of the water.

Shuck is in his 3rd year on Varsity for Scottsburg and has improved each of the first 3 seasons. This season you can see him taking everything he's learned form his freshman and sophomore years. He's a confident back who doesn't second guess himself anymore. When he sees open daylight he'll get small and make it work. He also can run angry and be hard to bring down for a guy his size. With 1196 yards and 4 TDs on the year, Shuck is looking to finish the year as strong as it started.

Kramer is a dual-threat quarterback who has taken the reigns on the offense this year. He's running more than ever before and it's working out well. He's a good athlete with long strides that just chew up yardage. While he's good in the running game, he is completing 65% of his passes and only has 5 INTs. Once you add in his 1168 rushing yards and 16 TDs his numbers begin to look a bit absurd, but that's because he's incredibly talented and plays with as much confidence as anyone in the state.
