McLaughlin has been in the news as he pushes Derrick Henry’s all-time HS rushing yard record. Friday night, he came through with another big win and a big chunk towards the tally. He breaks tackle after tackle, has better speed than people anticipate, and runs like every time he touches the ball, it’s his last. His 383 yards and 6 TDs seemed like just another day’s work, but it’s important to emphasize how much that truly is. 383 and 6 is ridiculous no matter how you slice it.

Myles McLaughlin put up eye-popping numbers in a video-game like victory over Culver: 436 rushing yards and a whopping nine touchdowns. Through three weeks, he already has more than 1,000 rushing yards on the season. This performance made him the #3 all-time leading rusher in the Hoosier State, and with several more weeks to go, he certainly has the goods to reach the top at his current pace. McLaughlin loves to run through contact, yet despite his efforts does not hold any Division I offers.

McLaughlin is having a video game-like season. It seems like every time he touches the ball he breaks a few tackles and then teleports to the endzone. The following numbers are not typos. Friday, he rushed for 439 yards and 9 TDs. Over the first 3 weeks of the year, he’s has more than 1000 yards and 16 TDs.

Mclaughlin takes a lot of direct snaps from the QB position and has a proven ability to take it to the house. He is also a stout linebacker on defense.

Mclaughlin, who is a junior, has a goal of eclipsing 6,000 rushing yards in his high school career. Barring injury, he appears well on his way, especially after this season: he led the state in rushing yards and is the school’s all-time leading rusher. Mclaughlin can run off-tackle, but he is also great as an inside runner.

The Knox offense goes as Mclaughlin goes, and Friday night the machine was well-oiled. McLaughlin is a decent-sized back who is still getting better. He’s got some twitch and more speed than defenders anticipate. He gashed Griffith on Friday night for 222 yards and 3 TDs. This season alone, Mclaughlin has 2400 rushing yards and 37 TDs. Those are not typos.

Knox’s running game is one of the best in the state because of Mclaughlin’s ability to read blocks, stay patient, and hit the hole. He’s a downhill runner who doesn’t waste time dancing in the hole. He sees it, hits it, and fights through traffic. On the year as of now, Mclaughlin is sitting with 1566 rushing yards and 25 TDs on the season. Both lead the state and it’s hard to imagine he slows down anytime soon.
