One thing I don't quite understand is the seeding process with the state playoffs. Do we not take into account strength of schedule, injuries, talent level of players, or quite frankly common sense? Here are 5 teams that we feel are criminally under seeded that can make deep runs and even win state titles!

Maine South (6-3)

Class: 8A
Seed: #20
First Round Opponent: @ Naperville North

Why We Feel They are Under Seeded:

They have ripped off 5 wins in a row to close the season after early season losses to Lincoln Way East, Hersey, and Barrington which are all really good teams. [player_tooltip player_id='830244' first='Zak' last='Stoilov'] is one of the best senior offensive lineman in the state and #2 overall sophomore QB [player_tooltip player_id='342339' first='Jameson' last='Purcell'] could go on a run!

Loyola (7-2)

Class: 8A
Seed: #12
First Round Opponent: Belleville East

Why We Feel They are Under Seeded:

Early season loss to East St. Louis which is no shame and another to a loaded Wheaton St. Francis squad filled with prospects. Loyola is stacked with talent along with a leader in [player_tooltip player_id='1292076' first='Ryan' last='Fitzgerald'] at QB. Washington commit [player_tooltip player_id='1291979' first='Donovan' last='Robinson'] is a superstar and Iowa commit [player_tooltip player_id='831094' first='Drew' last='MacPherson'] has game breaking ability.

Brother Rice (6-3)

Class: 7A
Seed: #21
First Round Opponent: @ Fenwick

Why We Feel They are Under Seeded:

Seems like Brother Rice got way under seeded here for the level of talent they have on their roster. Plus they have to play a fellow Chicago Catholic League team in Fenwick. Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='299634' first='Christian' last='Pierce'] is the top uncommitted senior in the state and a game wrecker on the defensive side. Corner [player_tooltip player_id='890063' first='Donovan' last='Brown'] is not far behind him at #21 overall with elite ball skills. Defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='831103' first='Charlie' last='Stec'] and offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='714442' first='Dylaan' last='Richmond'] are both impactful players up front. Loaded in the junior class with defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='208769' first='King' last='Liggins'], wide out [player_tooltip player_id='401612' first='Jovan' last='Green'], and QB [player_tooltip player_id='801994' first='CJ' last='Gray'].

Mt. Carmel (6-3)

Class: 7A
Seed: #19
First Round Opponent: @ Harlem

Why We Feel They are Under Seeded:

I'm sorry, but this is just stupid. They have losses to an out of state power along with Brother Rice and Loyola. I watched their game two weeks ago and they have a defensive line that would be the envy of some Power 4 schools in [player_tooltip player_id='270192' first='Braeden' last='Jones'] (USC commit), junior fast riser [player_tooltip player_id='1538329' first='Joey' last='Quinn'], and elite freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1682021' first='Caleb' last='Tucker']. They have perhaps best QB you would want to win you a high school game in [player_tooltip player_id='131488' first='Jack' last='Elliott'] to go with a plethora of weapons led by [player_tooltip player_id='432197' first='Quentin' last='Burrell'] and a mauling offensive line. They could easily win the state title as a #19 seed.

Joliet Catholic (6-3)

Class: 5A
Seed: #6
First Round Opponent: Jacksonville

Why We Feel They are Under Seeded:

The three losses came against three of the best teams in the state all on the road. Seems like a pretty harsh punishment to have them seeded this low considering their running game in Craig Peacock, [player_tooltip player_id='401593' first='Anthony' last='Finnegan'], etc to go along with defensive stars [player_tooltip player_id='401608' first='Ian' last='Campbell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='401618' first='Kingston' last='Dunagan'].
