Timon flew through a schedule handling most of their competition throughout the season, there were solid close games against St. Francis Prep (NYC) and St. Andrews (CAN) but outside of a close loss to Huron Heights (CAN) Timon was largely untouchable in Monsignor Martin Division B. In 2024 they will move up to Monsignor A and be in contention to win the MM championship and face the Catholic champion from NYC.

McCloud Jr returns as the leading wide receiver and one of the top two-way players in Buffalo. I saw him live at CTC 7v7 playing with the UAS Blaze, and he is a special type of athlete. He has some noticeable explosiveness and bounce to his game, with the ability to make tough contested catches. On tape, you see the same thing with the pads: a player that can separate against man coverage and make plays after the catch. I could see him on either side of the ball right now at the next level and he has a chance to have an even bigger season this year with the graduation of McNeil.

Anzalone returns as one of the top Quarterback prospects in the 2026 class. Already with an offer from Saint Francis, the dual-threat prospect was excellent last season for Timon, coasting them through the season to an 8-1 record. On tape he flashes a strong arm, the ability to change his arm angle and make throws in between pockets of defenders by changing velocity and loft to his balls. As a runner, he is big and strong and flashes some speed when he gets moving. He took a solid step forward from Freshman to Sophomore season adding the running to his game, the next step will be continuing to develop as a passer - accuracy and efficiency.

Lattimore comes back as the defensive leader for Timon. A smaller LB prospect, he has been a significant performer for the past two years and is the top returning tackler from a year ago.

Lattimore is a consistent tackler and has some solid sophomore season tape where he was also one of the top defenders on the Tigers - his junior season tape is split up between a few games. Still, he does a good job of fighting through traffic and blocks and is able to wrap up and finish guys to the ground at a high rate.

Harris was a big playmaker down the stretch for the Tigers with three games in October with 40+ yards and touchdowns in each game. He is primarily a basketball player, and at 6'4, the Guard is super athletic - no football tape, so there is not a complete evaluation football-wise but he is a really talented athlete at WR whose size and bounce make him a dangerous #2 target alongside McCloud.

2024 Outlook

HC: Matt Weiser

The usual mix in the schedule for a Monsignor Martin team with tough competition from Canada on the schedule, a Section V matchup, and a really tough three-game stretch in the middle that is a result of moving up to the A division, and they face Huron Heights (CAN), Canisius, and St. Francis in a row. Huron Heights gave them their only loss last season, and they followed up with two powerhouses in the A division in MM. They officially move up to Monsignor Martin A division this season, and while they have the playmakers to compete, it will be the trenches where Timon will likely be a bit smaller than teams like Canisius and St. Francis.

3 Things Going For The Tigers

They return one of the best QB/WR duos in New York in Anzalone and McCloud

They have a really talented group of WRs behind McCloud that brings some size and length to the table

Young defensive backs who have a lot of potential

1 Area To Be Concerns

The do-it-all skillset of James McNeil is very difficult to replace

The Last Word

Timon had some significant losses in the backfield, but they should be able to overcome that with Anzalone and the ability to throw even more on teams this season. McCloud is in for a very big season, and some young WR prospects bring size and athleticism to the rest of the group. Some young DBs will be tested by a tough schedule, especially early, but they have a lot of talent skill-wise. Their ability to replace the loss on the offensive and defensive line will dictate their season.
