Northern Nevada’s Early-Season Stock Risers

<p><em>Taking a look at some of the standout performers in northern Nevada from the early part of the season. </em></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Jackson's raised his stock as a northern Nevada breakout candidate since taking over the backfield from his older brother- Connor Jackson- who was the state's rushing leader last season. Zack's totaled 500 rushing yards and 9 TDs on 87 carries through five games for Douglas. The 6'2"/190 RB/DB also has 37 total tackles, an INT, and a sack on defense. He employs a similar running style as his brother with his physical frame and downhill power with the ball in his hands. He has a penchant for producing explosive plays with his ability to square his shoulders, take on contact, and drive through defenders at the second and third levels. Also shows strong receiving skills out of the backfield (10 catches, 169 yards). Jackson's firmly on the 2026 radar early into his junior season.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ZackJackson007/status/1830455151230120234 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Weston's been one of the most productive two-way players in Nevada this season with a team-leading 20 receptions for 470 yards and 7 TDs on offense and 35 total tackles, 2 INTs, and 4 TFLs on defense. He's a physical player on both sides of the ball that likely fits in as a SS at the next level. He packs power as a tackler behind his 6'/200 frame, shows his skill on the ball as a disruptive zone safety, and is a steady perimeter tackler playing around the LOS. Weston should continue to raise his stock as one of the top two-way starters in northern Nevada.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/CarterEckl/status/1834784531192463659 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Carsrud has posted back-to-back games with 130+ rushing yards and 4 TDs in Elko's 3-0 start to the season. The 6'/185 junior RB has shown his explosiveness and downhill skillset as a playmaker out of the backfield. He's an upright, mostly north-south runner that generates speed to power in the open field and is a difficult ball-carrier to bring down in space with the type of downhill momentum he's able to generate. He sees the field well, shows agility cutting to space around the LOS, and possesses the balance and strength to shake off arm tackles. Carsrud's quickly putting himself on the 2026 breakout radar and has shown potential to finish among the top-producing playmakers in Nevada's 3A Northern division. </p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Wilson's been one of northern Nevada's most productive passers through the early part of the 2024 season. Reno's junior QB is averaging 250+ passing YPG with a total of 8 TDs in the Huskies' 2-1 start. He's a natural passer with the athleticism to extend plays and shows his improvisation and power in his arm making off-platform throws outside the pocket. He can change arm angles to fit passes into tight windows, looks comfortable processing reads from the pocket, and delivers the ball with a quick, efficient release. Wilson's putting an impressive junior season on tape that should have him placed among northern Nevada's most talented passers by the end of the season. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/BraylonWilson_1/status/1835466096058737060 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Galvin is among northern Nevada's INT leaders with 3 through four games. The 5'9"/165 SS also leads the team in total tackles (41) and TFLs (5). Galvin showed his range and physicality finishing as Damonte Ranch's top tackler as a junior (104 total, 15 TFLs) and has shown more turnover production and skill development in coverage through the early part of his senior season. He's an effective zone defender outside the hash-marks, tackles with a high motor, and can create negative plays in the backfield playing the end of the LOS. Galvin's an underrated defender that certainly possesses the ability to play at the next level. </p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Erwin's been a standout playmaker for Reed's defense with a team-leading 3 sacks and 5 TFLs along with 25 total tackles and an INT. He's a rangy perimeter defender with a long, athletic frame (6'1"/175) and the speed to play in space. He's quick to chew up space with long strides, plays physical as a tackler and blocker shedder, and shows high effort to the ball. Erwin's building off his strong junior campaign with even more production as a senior. </p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Clarke is Nevada's current leader in receiving yards (436) through North Valleys' first five games of the season. The 6'2 junior has shown useful length to his frame in high-point situations on the perimeter and strong ball skills as a pass-catcher. He's aggressive through the catch and shows good concentration downfield, but needs to continue to develop his route-running skill and technique.
