As we head into the season, we will briefly check out the top 6A programs and what the season could look like with many top names gone, new talent coming in, and the rivalries renewing.

The 4 top teams in last season's 6A conference will all be trotting out new quarterbacks this fall. Ben Davis lost Thomas Gostkowski to Miami of Ohio. Central Grove lost Tyler Cherry to IU. Brownsburg's Jake Dunn is off to play college ball as well as Danny O'Neil from Cathedral heading over to San Diego State.

Rogers has been developing in the shadows of Gostkowski and should be ready to shine. The 3-star QB is a phenomenal athlete who has a big arm. I mean a big arm. His ability to uncork a deep ball with very little effort has always been eye-opening. Add in his size and athletic ability and you can see immediately why people have been excited. He's only got 1 fall to start, but he's got the eyes of the state on him and more than enough talent to take off and lead Ben Davis back to the promised land.

The incumbent backup has had some reps over the past 2 seasons, but not many. However, what we've seen from him is fairly promising and he's got a bunch of traits you're looking for. So, if McWilliams is the starter there's reason to be excited. He's a pocket passer who likes to go through his reads and get the ball out. He won't hold onto the ball or try fitting the ball into spots he shouldn't. While there isn't much live Varsity tape to go off of, he's always seemed confident on the field and has the stature that radiates confidence. I'm curious to see how Center Grove performs this year and how this QB room shakes out.

Earlier this summer I stopped by the XFactor QB camp and got to see a bunch of the best quarterbacks in Indiana working with Coach Morelli. One of the guys he was most excited about was Koers and him taking over for Cathedral. He's good on the move and a solid athlete. Rollouts and taking shots downfield seem to be in their near future. He's got an improviser type of playstyle where if it's not there right away, he's able to create a play. Whether it's with his legs or his arm, he's got the talent.

One of the most intriguing prospects in the class gets his opportunity to shine. The dual-threat QB already has his collegiate plans set, but he's still got the chance to come out and play this fall. He's as dynamic as they come from the QB position. He's got a big arm and can throw the ball on a line. While he's not the most refined at going through his reads, as he gets more reps and playing time that will smooth out. He's a quick decision-maker who doesn't panic when things break down around him, and that alone should help him go far.

Heading into his first year starting, Frye could easily take off as one of the top recruits in the 2027 class. I've seen him in person a few times and he's fairly impressive. He's consistent, doesn't ride the emotions of the game, and is looking for coaching points every chance he gets. He's a good athlete who can extend plays with his legs and hit his the target on the move. He plays the position correctly and wants to get the ball to his playmakers. I'm stoked to see what Frye does this fall.
