It will be a battle of the quarterbacks as Frye faces off against senior gunslinger Carson Melvin – a 6-foot-4, 208-pound dual-threat playmaker and Bowling Green commit. Melvin is a dynamic playmaker who can throw on the move exceptionally well. His big frame makes it hard for defenders to bring him down. His ability to elude rushers and buy time with his feet are elite traits.

It may sound obvious to say this team goes as Melvin does, but it truly does. The games he’s not been at his best were the game struggled. They need him to extend some of the plays he does and keep a drive alive here and there with his legs. He’s run a bunch more this year than ever before and it’s helped open throwing and running lanes. His 292 yards and 9 TDs on the ground are more than triple his previous career highs. He’s also completing a career-high 65% of his passes and has only thrown 4 interceptions all year. Crown Point has dominated games this year by being efficient and taking advantage of the other team’s mistakes, so Melvin needs to play clean ball again on Friday to get the win.

Melvin, a Bowling Green commit, is a very athletic quarterback with a strong arm. He can make long throws to the opposite hash with zip and velocity. He displays good mobility and can throw on the move, as well as escape the pocket and keep the chains moving with his legs.

One of the most intriguing prospects in the class gets his opportunity to shine. The dual-threat QB already has his collegiate plans set, but he’s still got the chance to come out and play this fall. He’s as dynamic as they come from the QB position. He’s got a big arm and can throw the ball on a line. While he’s not the most refined at going through his reads, as he gets more reps and playing time that will smooth out. He’s a quick decision-maker who doesn’t panic when things break down around him, and that alone should help him go far.
