Any time anyone puts together a list of top 8th grade prospects getting ready to enter the high school ranks, there's bound to be some impressive hits and some head-scratching misses. Below is the Washington Class of 2028 Top 100 Football Prospect Watchlist and a writeup on each prospect. A handful of the prospects below already have verbal scholarship offers extended to them; Many of them will receive a scholarship offer at some point over the next four years; Yet, some will never play football after high school. However, as of July 15th, 2024, these prospects appear to be destined for big things on the high school football scene in Washington. Let's take a look.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Quarterback</h3>   ***listed alphabetically***   [player_tooltip player_id='984855' first='AJ' last='Tuivaiave'] | Washington | Graham-Kapowsin High School - Without question, the top 2028 Quarterback coming out of Washington for the class of 2028. As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds. Already holds offers from Miami and Arizona State, with many more on the way.   [player_tooltip player_id='984861' first='Brennan' last='Abbott'] | Washington | Sumner High School - Athletic Quarterback who is also a Junior Olympian in the pentathlon and triple jump. Was at the helm of the Heir 13U team last year. As of July 2024 is listed at 5-foot-10 and 140-pounds, so getting in the weight room and adding pounds is a must. Delivers a nice ball. Keep an eye here, as he develops physically.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339252' first='Colton' last='Stiles'] | Washington | Mount Si High School - As of July 2024, he is listed at 6-foot-1 and 160-pounds. Passes the eye test right away and looks the part of a QB the rest of the state will hear a lot about over the next four years. Multi-sport athlete that also plays basketball and baseball which makes sense, given his long torso and a strong right arm.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339339' first='Gavin' last='Danielson'] | Washington | Auburn Riverside High School - A very promising 2028 QB that nobody seems to be talking about in the PNW. As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot-3 and 165-pounds. Has excellent fundamentals and a beautiful overtop throwing motion--nearly picture perfect. Moves well in training video and checks a lot of boxes for what the next level wants to see.   [player_tooltip player_id='1293689' first='Jaxon' last='Foy'] | Washington | O'Dea High School - QB I like more and more each time I check in and revisit clips. Love the aggressive step he takes up in the pocket after receiving a shot gun snap--makes me freeze and I'm just watching film. Very natural release and gets the ball to his guys quickly.   [player_tooltip player_id='984867' first='Jayden' last='Baum'] | Washington | Evergreen High School - Thicker Quarterback with an absolute cannon for an arm. Also comes with sneaky dual-threat ability and not afraid to lower a shoulder. Loves to air it out and can routinely launch the ball 45-50 yards with ease.   [player_tooltip player_id='984864' first='Jordan' last='Meas'] | Washington | Eastside Catholic - One of the top 2-3 Washington 2028 QBs, in my opinion, as of July 2024. Comes with a lot of experience playing against top talent during the regular season and 7v7, and always seems to lead his team to a W. He's listed at 5-foot-10 and 165-pounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='1336780' first='Jericho' last='Martin'] | Washington | Spanaway High School - Athletic QB that brings dual-threat ability to the field, with a threat to take off at any time. Keeps a ton of plays alive with his legs, while recreating the pocket. Speed and quickness are big plusses--he also plays Safety and is a Returner on Special Teams. Needs to work on QB technique to maximize ability. Older brother played at Idaho State.   [player_tooltip player_id='984869' first='Julien' last='Woodruff'] | Washington | Shorewood High School - A 2028 Quarterback prospect that is on the ascend when looking at the QBs in Washington. Has gotten considerably bigger over the last calendar year and will need to continue to pack the weight on as he stretches out. Agile QB that takes care of the football   [player_tooltip player_id='1337967' first='Leo' last='Houpis'] | Washington | Skyline High School - As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot-3 and 165-pounds, headed into his freshman year. Height is an obvious plus, as is his length. Three-sport athlete that has the potential to become a recruitable prospect. Needs to grow into his body a bit and work on his throwing motion, but the building blocks of a next-level player are there.   [player_tooltip player_id='1139323' first='Oliver' last='Setterberg'] | Washington | Glacier Peak High School - Stands tall in the pocket and is very patient as his WRs get into their route. Good height with a slender frame, at 6-foot-1 and 155-pounds as of July 2024. Also plays baseball and you can see it in his shorter, more compact throwing motion.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339195' first='Oliver' last='Stiles'] | Washington | Eastlake High School - The smallest QB on this list as of July 2024, listed at 5-foot-9 and 140-pounds. Really exciting signal caller that comes with plenty of dual-threat ability. Very agile and avoids tackles on the move. Needs to protect the ball while running or it'll get jarred loose on the HS level. On film he throws a nice ball when he has the time to do so. I like the potential here.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339315' first='Sawyer' last='Saab'] | Washington | Ferndale High School - QB1 of of a deeply talented incoming Ferndale freshman class. As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot-1 and 165-pounds. Dual-threat QB that rather beat you with his arm, but can absolutely take off if he needs to. Film shows him tossing the rock all over the yard and some guts of stepping up in a collapsing pocket.   [player_tooltip player_id='1227309' first='Zayden' last='Homann'] | Washington | Yelm High School - Smoother operator as a Quarterback who fits the bill as an incoming freshman. As of July 2024, is listed at 6-foot-1 and 155-pounds. Good length and a smooth motion/release. Also plays basketball.     <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Running Back</h3>   ***listed alphabetically***   [player_tooltip player_id='987638' first='Akio' last='Yonesaka'] | Washington | Lake Stevens High School - Speedy Running Back that hits the hole hard and doesn't look back. Doesn't have the most wiggle in the world, but wins with a combination of speed and a lot of strength for his size. Also plays LB/SS and gets in the backfield quickly on blitzes.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339173' first='Anthony' last='Wiggs'] | Washington | Tahoma High School - Strong Running Back that has considerable muscle mass at this point, listed at 5-foot-9 and 175-pounds as of July 2024. Well-balanced RB that doesn't have top end speed, but does have a balanced running style with some some positive power and vision.   [player_tooltip player_id='1337953' first='Ari' last='Gibbons'] | Washington | Skyline High School - Runs like a zero turn mower and can turn a corner like very few can. Somewhat slippery and runs with good balance. Can also deliver an effective stiff-arm to keep defenders at bay. Top end speed is a question mark, but he's certainly talented.   [player_tooltip player_id='985352' first='Briytan' last='Bailey'] | Washington | Mount Tahoma High School - Agile, slippery Running Back/Athlete. Listed at 5-foot-8 and 160-pounds as of July 2024.   Byce Jackson | Washington | N/A High School - His top sport is basketball, but can't look past what he does on the football field. Shifty RB that can make ya miss in a phone booth. Agility and quickness I see on the football field, is direct translation to a crossover on the court.   [player_tooltip player_id='1338069' first='Chrystian' last='Ervin'] | Washington | O'Dea High School - A bowling ball of power as Running Back prospect, listed at 5-foot-10 and 190-pounds as of July 2024. Not the fastest RB by any means, but has enough speed to outrun defenders if he gets a step on them. The type of back the secondary won't want to tackle in those cold November games. Also a Junior Olympian in the shot put.   [player_tooltip player_id='986703' first='Dre' last='Jacobs'] | Washington | Squalicum High School - Don't have official measurements as of July 2024, but looks to have average (or slightly below) size for an incoming RB. Has impressive feet and vision for a back at this level. Makes some no-look jump cuts that come straight out of NCAA 2025. Has the speed and acceleration to run away after the cuts too. Also a threat in the passing game coming out of the backfield.   [player_tooltip player_id='995881' first='JT' last='Williams'] | Washington | Lincoln High School - Well-balanced Running Back that was a standout on the Heir 13U this past season. Comes with good speed and the ability to break tackles of those who don't wrap up. Also a very talented basketball player--which could be his best sport.   [player_tooltip player_id='987104' first='Malcolm' last='Akuffo'] | Washington | Emerald Ridge High School - An absolute load at RB with excellent feet and good speed for his size. As of July 2024, is listed at 5-foot-9 and 225-pounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='928181' first='Marcus' last='Ronquillo'] | Washington | Yelm High School - Powerful RB, listed at 5-foot-9 and 170-pounds as of July 2024. Also has excellent speed and a knack for making the big play. Runs tough between the tackles but also has the speed to gain the edge. Is a constant threat in the pass game too. The son of Yelm HC Jason Ronquillo.   Maximo Dickerson | Washington | Orting High School - Good mixture of power and speed and has a very muscular build. Also catches well out the backfield and can play Linebacker too. Also a very good baseball player.   [player_tooltip player_id='1335622' first='Mekhi' last='Fields'] | Washington | Rainier Beach High School - Multi-sport athlete with sudden quickness that allows him to get upfield in a hurry. Can line up in the slot to execute End-arounds or go out for a pass, as well. Really good hands. Could ultimately end up as a Wide Receiver or Safety.   [player_tooltip player_id='985503' first='Trevon' last='Mayfield'] | Washington | N/A High School - Explosive RB that hits the hole like he was shot out of a cannon. Great speed and vision, he can make one simple cut and be gone with his acceleration. Also has arguable the best hands of the Washington 2028 RBs on the list. As of July 2024, is listed at 5-foot-7 and 160-pounds and benches 180-pounds.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Wide Receiver</h3>   ***listed alphabetically***   [player_tooltip player_id='1003665' first='Dauve' last='Hunter'] | Washington | N/A High School - Shorter Wide Receiver as of July 2024, listed at 5-foot-8 and 150-pounds. Explosive Wide Receiver that plays bigger than his size indicates and can absolutely fly in open field. Has a quick initial step off the snap gets DBs on their toes right away.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339183' first='De'kaylin' last='Palea'ae'] | Washington | Spanaway Lake High School - Really impressive WR in terms of reported size and speed. As of July 2024, is listed at 6-foot-1 and 160-pounds and claims a 4.63 in the forty. While neither are confirmed, his play on film checks out. Good route runner and has a knack for getting into the end zone on the deep ball.   [player_tooltip player_id='1337935' first='Draven' last='Butler'] | Washington | Mt. Spokane High School - One of my personal favorites in this 2028 class. As of July 2024, is listed at 6-foot-2 and 180-pounds--but doesn't appear to be quite that big. Regardless, he's a big, smooth WR with long strides. Can head tap in the end zone or take a drag route to the house. Looks incredibly natural playing the position. Listed at 5-foot-9 and 135-pounds as of July 2024.   [player_tooltip player_id='985348' first='Jayce' last='Halasz'] | Washington| Graham-Kapowsin High School - Athletic Wide Receiver who runs excellent routes and routinely gains separation. Multi-sport athlete, multi-sport MVP in middle school.   [player_tooltip player_id='985363' first='Jayden' last='Hollenbeck'] | Washington | Lake Stevens High School - Slender Wide Receiver with length, great concentration and reliable hands. Explosive kid that is a difference-maker and needs to be accounted for on every route.   [player_tooltip player_id='1335368' first='Josiah' last='Laurence'] | Washington | Cascade Christian - Multi-sport athlete that plays a physical brand of WR. Very fast and aggressive. May ultimately end up being a better Strong Safety. Good muscle on mass on a frame that is pushing 6-foot-2 as of July 2024.   [player_tooltip player_id='1226917' first='Kaeden' last='Weaver'] | Washington | North Creek High School - Really good for an incoming freshman, listed at 6-foot-2 and 175-pounds, as of July 2024.  Very long and attacks the ball in midair. My gut says he'll be a WR long term, but can easily see him moving over to play Safety.   [player_tooltip player_id='1336638' first='Llewellyn' last='Williams III'] | Washington | Lynden High School - Listed at 6-foot and 175-pounds as of July 2024, with some good size and strength. Also plays Linebacker on the defensive side of the ball. Throughout 7v7 play, made tough catches in traffic look very routine. Multi-sport athlete.   [player_tooltip player_id='985368' first='Madden' last='Carr'] | Washington | Auburn Riverside High School - Smooth and fast are the first two words that come to mind on Carr. Needs to develop physically a bit, listed as 5-foot-9 and a skinny 130-pounds. However, he can burn people deep on repeat, using his track speed. Natural pass catcher who is getting better and better in his route running. May take a year or so, but he'll be a name to know.   [player_tooltip player_id='984711' first='Maxten' last='Cook'] | Washington | Lake Stevens High School - Wide Receiver with plus size, listed at 6-foot-1 and 175-pounds as of July 2024. Head-tapper with a nice vert and 11.62 speed. Size and overall skill set make him a big time mismatch.   [player_tooltip player_id='898734' first='Pierson' last='Bryant'] | Washington | Richland High School - Electric Wide Receiver that is really exciting to watch on tape. Don't have exacts on speed or size, but he's a smaller kid that makes up for it with elite speed as of July 2024. Also comes with a stellar pair of mitts that haul in anything near him. May be overlooked initially because of size, but he'll make people pay over the next four years.   [player_tooltip player_id='986441' first='Raziah' last='Patterson'] | Washington | Yelm High School - Completes the trio of the talented offensive skill players headed to Yelm this year, alongside Ronquillo (RB) and Homann (QB). Listed at 5-foot-10 and 140-pounds as of July 2024. Also an accomplished basketball player.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339177' first='Waylon' last='Abercrombie'] | Washington | Tahoma High School - Promising Wide Out listed at 5-foot-10 and 150-pounds, as of July 2024. He's on the thinner side and will need to pack on some pounds to be ready for Friday nights. Long arms make him a favorite of QBs. He's more of a field-stretching, vertical threat at this point.     <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tight End</h3>   ***listed alphabetically***   [player_tooltip player_id='1339325' first='Brok' last='Taylor'] | Washington | Ferndale High School - I don't have exacts on his size as of July 2024, but I have to imagine he's right around 6-foot-2 and 175-pounds. Also a basketball player, he's a big target that should only continue to get bigger. An unquestioned red zone threat but also has enough speed to pick up YAC yards if he gets loose. Some time in the weight room will take him to another level.   [player_tooltip player_id='984860' first='Colton' last='Terry'] | Washington | Tumwater High School - As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot-2 and 180-pounds. Good route runner and hands for a TE entering HS. Older brother Austin is currently at Boise State. Also can flip over and play Defensive End at a high level.   [player_tooltip player_id='1337973' first='Inoke' last='Crosby'] | Washington | Bellevue High School - In retrospect should have been listed as an Athlete in this top 100 list. Played for Kent this past season and lined up as a Linebacker, Running Back, Wide Receiver and obviously Tight End. Athletic kid just waiting to be molded into a serious prospect. Very raw, but he's going to be a name to know in this 2028 class once he puts it all together. Holds offers from Miami, Cal, Col. State and Washington. As of July is listed at 6-foot-2 and 270-pounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='1335129' first='Elioenai' last='Paolo'] | Washington | Life Christian Academy - Thick, strong and athletic for size. Plays Offensive Guard and Defensive Tackle at a high level.   [player_tooltip player_id='1169978' first='Joel' last='Taivasa'] | Washington | N/A High School - Shorter and wider, but broader and stronger. Played Left Tackle for Heir 13U last season.   [player_tooltip player_id='1195193' first='Lotomama' last='Nuu'] | Washington | Life Christian Academy - An incoming freshman OL/DL with his build should not be as athletic as Nuu is, but here we are. As of July 2024, he's listed at 5-foot-7 and 260-pounds. Extremely strong Guard/Center and uses leverage like a pro. Also a tough interior D-Linemen. Even took handoffs at times.   [player_tooltip player_id='1338208' first='Marley' last='Malotumau'] | Washington | Puyallup High School - Powerful Offensive Lineman that is listed at 5-foot-11 and 280-pounds as of July 2024. Has to be in the conversation for strongest prospect on this list. Thick hips and lower body allows him to stay in his stance and not give up any ground. He's going to be very good interior O-Linemen for the next four years. Also a good hooper, so can't rule out at move to Tight End depending on how he fills out.   [player_tooltip player_id='985353' first='Ofa' last='Taufalele'] | Washington | Life Christian Academy - Naturally as strong as an Ox. Barrel-chested interior O-Linemen with an initial punch that will knock the wind out of a D-Linemen instantly. As of July 2024, holds an offer from Washington and is listed at 6-foot-2 and 315-pounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='985356' first='Solova'a' last='Steffany'] | Washington | Graham-Kapowsin High School - A 2028 prospect that I'm surprised doesn't hold an offer already. As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot-1 and 280-pounds and can play either Guard or Tackle on O and is a D-Tackle on defense. Really impressive, agile feet for his size/age.   [player_tooltip player_id='1336838' first='Sunako' last='Lealao'] | Washington | Roosevelt High School - Good interior offensive lineman that has shown some very good ability during his youth career. As of July 2024, is listed at 5-foot-11 and 275-pounds. Needs to develop a stronger base and not lunging while in his pass set. Recovers well if losing a rep and competes. Needs some work, but he's got a shot.   [player_tooltip player_id='986463' first='Xavier' last='Porcincula'] | Washington | Eastside Catholic - Interior O-Linemen that will be a bit of a project in terms of feet. Strong punch and ability to re-anchor off the snap. He's out of the Benson program.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Athlete</h3>   ***listed alphabetically***   [player_tooltip player_id='1336939' first='AJ' last='Barnby'] | Washington | Sumner high School - Speed for days, and he needs it too because the size is not there as of July 2024. Hides behind his blocks and shows patience before accelerating quickly up to the second and third levels. Needs to develop a substantial amount in terms of build, but he can fly. I could see him playing CB or Returner earlier than he will at RB.   [player_tooltip player_id='985355' first='Amosa' last='Masaniai'] | Washington | Emerald Ridge High School - More than capable of playing Linebacker or Edge on defense, in addition to Wide Receiver or Tight End on offense. Strong, athletic prospect that comes as a nice chess piece who can be placed at multiple positions.   Darwin Peters III | Washington | Mount Tahoma High School - One of the top overall athletes on this list, listed at 5-foot-9 and 140-pounds as of July 2024. Really high cut with long legs that serve as the foundation for everything he can do. In addition to his play as a WR/S/CB, he's also a talented hooper and is a Junior Olympian in the 200M hurdles.   [player_tooltip player_id='986705' first='Dreson' last='Jimerson'] | Washington | N/A High School - Line him up at Wide Reciever or Running Back and let him do his thing. Don't have official measurements on him, but he's on the smaller side as of July 2024. Exceptional initial burst of speed, makes him a threat as a return man too. Defensively he's a legit Corner and mirrors WRs with every step.   [player_tooltip player_id='984904' first='EJ' last='Tonga'] | Washington | Union High School - Excellent two-way player who won his middle school's MVP award. Fearless tackler as a Corner, makes great grabs as a Wide Receiver.   [player_tooltip player_id='1338340' first='Havan' last='Sun'] | Washington | North Creek High School - Gets set to enter high school somewhere between a Running Back and Wide Receiver. Majority of his snaps came as a Wide Receiver last year. As of July 2024, he's listed at 5-foot-9 and 160-pounds. Comes with a 225-pound bench and the ability to break tackles when running in open field.   [player_tooltip player_id='985511' first='Kaicen' last='Carter'] | Washington | Federal Way High School - A bigger, more physical two-way skill position player that is listed at 6-foot-1 and 175-pounds as of July 2024. Whether it be Wide Receiver/Linebacker/Defensive Back, he's a kid that makes a splash whenever and wherever, he's on the field.   [player_tooltip player_id='584953' first='Kanai' last='Kennedy'] | Washington | N/A High School - A lot of people with boots on the ground feel Kennedy is the top 2028 prospect in the state as of July 2024. Offensively is a crazy-productive Running Back with a nice blend of speed and power. Defensively, you can put him at Strong Safety, Cornerback or Linebacker with confidence. Seems to always be in the right spot, at the right time on the football field.   [player_tooltip player_id='985349' first='Kemarjae' last='Davis'] | Washington | N/A High School - Built low to the ground and strong. Excels as a power RB on offense, defensively, he has lined up as a speedy pass-rushing fire hydrant D-End, but more than athletic enough to play MLB. Questions about long term ceiling given stature and build.   Luelo Feo | Washington | Bethel High School - Can do it all and play anywhere on the field. Has the "IT" factor. Looks most at LB and RB. Listed at 6-foot and 180-pounds as of July 2024. Strong, athletic, magnetic ability/personality on the field.   [player_tooltip player_id='1337930' first='Quentin' last='Carroll'] | Washington | Mt. Spokane High School - Good looking 2028 prospect with a classic WR build. On the lean side with considerable length. Athleticism lends itself to Wide Receiver and Defensive Back, but has film lining up and coming out of the backfield.   [player_tooltip player_id='1335521' first='RJ' last='Ward'] | Washington | Bellevue High School - Exceptional speed, balance and athleticism on both sides of the ball. Multi-sport athlete that plays RB on offense and both Outside LB and Inside LB. Closes on the ball carrier fast and is always a threat to create a turnover.   [player_tooltip player_id='986727' first='Treylon' last='McGraw'] | Washington | Heritage High School - Fiery and competitive WR/DB that competes like every ball in the air is his. Listed at 5-foot-8 and 150-pounds as of July 2024.   [player_tooltip player_id='985350' first='Uzyah' last='Thomas'] | Washington | N/A High School - A very high-cut, two-way lineman with considerable weight and length. Could see him play D-End, D-Tackle or O-tackle, dependent on how he fills out. [player_tooltip player_id='1200859' first='Angelo' last='Williams'] | Washington | Life Christian Academy - Quick off the ball with an arsenal of moves alredy. Size is bit of a question mark. As of July 2024, is listed at 5-foot-8 and 220-pounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='985358' first='Cale' last='LaFountaine'] | Washington | Orting High School - Impressive size and corresponding strength, listed at 6-foot-4 and 260-pounds as of July 2024. Moves well for his size and is also a promising basketball player.   [player_tooltip player_id='1339354' first='Jonah' last='Kapesi'] | Washington | Rainier Beach High School - Big interior Defensive Lineman that is listed on the varsity roster for the RB Vikings at 6-foot-2 and 250-pounds. Haven't seen him play in a few years but he was a game changer earlier in his pre-high school career. Big and athletic. A two-gap player if called upon. One of the best against the run that I've seen.   Malakai Leuleu | Washington | O'Dea High School - Tweener D-Linemen that can line up at D-Tackle or D-End and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. As of July 2024 is listed at 6-foot and 240-pounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='984901' first='Ryder' last='Gobin-Tolentino'] | Washington | Lake Stevens High School - Promising D-Line prospect that can re-create the line of scrimmage in a hurry. Aggressive D-End that understands containment and can move very well.   Uriah Pompeo | Washington | N/A High School - Defensive Lineman that engulfs ball carriers on the regular. Little brother Chance is a powerhouse RB/MLB and is an extremely athletic kid for his 5-foot-11 and 210-pound build as of July 2024. Multi-sport athlete and very strong. He's a really impressive looking 2028 with proven blood lines. Questions about long term ceiling given current height and build, but he's a solid kid.
