One of the bigger surprises coming out of the week at AYF Nationals was seeing Heir Academy not perform at their best in the 13U D1 bracket, as they managed just seven points in their two losses. The team was pretty low on numbers, but very high on ability–specifically at the skill positions. Quarterback Brennan Abbott is a more than capable player with the threat to air it out or take off and run, an off couple of days are no indication of his ability. The coaches were organized, the kids were on time and they had clean practices before the games, but it didn’t add up to any wins.

Abbot doesn’t have the height of Tuivaiave or Williams Jr. at this point, but the kid flat out produces on the gridiron. Heading up an explosive offense for the Heir 13U team this season, he’s a confident kid that has leadership qualities on top of his football ability. Phenomenal footwork after the snap allows him to roll out in either direction and re-set the pocket. Very impressive ability to flip his hips on the move and deliver accurate passes to any of his playmakers. One of the more impressive 2028 athletes from Washington at the QB position, Abbot qualified for the USATF Nationals in the Pentathalon this July–his first year competing in the grueling event.
