SOUTH DAKOTA-- We move over to South Dakota, to meet our newest 2027 Gunslingers to our 2027 rankings as we breakdown their tape, hopeful development we want to see, and how they could project or improve their stock by our next update.

Chace was a quarterback that got some varsity looks as just as a freshmen at powerhouse Sioux Falls O'Gorman and one that caught my eyes over the spring the season. Chace showed good growth with his poise from my first look to my last look of the Spring as he shows off a quick release. He can develop further with growing faster with his second reads, as from the looks I got time was not on his side during the four second clock. He also grew his development with intermediate routes from start to finish this Spring, and is one that I believe has a high ceiling to rise up some spots if we look at this 2027 by next update.

A quarterback that has a baseball arm as always fielded well amongst South Dakota prospects, and I believe that will be the case with Brandon Valley's Will VanLeur. Will has a good frame for his age at 6'2 160 pounds at the moment with plenty of frame to growth over the next two-three years. Will shows off quick reads out of his RPOs and intrigues me with his quick agility out of the pocket throwing on intermediate routes. He also does a solid job with his tight ball fits in tiny windows of opportunity. Seems to be developing his poise well, and I certainly think there is even more growth for it in the next few years. Will might have the biggest ceiling on this quarterback list in my eyes too as he shows off the tools I like to see early from an underclassmen gunslinger.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id='1212271' first='Austin' last='Flohr'], QB, Rapid City Stevens Twitter

A last name that Rapid City will know is [player_tooltip player_id='1212271' first='Austin' last='Flohr'], who is the son of South Dakota Mines head coach Charlie Flohr. The 6'1 160 pounder from Rapid City Stevens has one of the biggest arms amongst this 2027 SD class thus far, and already is impressive with his consistent ball placement. Austin also impresses me with his instincts with his second reads and is one that excels with what will grow out to be great poise in the coming years from my eyes. Austin certainly is one the best underclassmen quarterbacks I have seen out of the West River since we launched PRZ in 2020 in the Dakotas.

#2: [player_tooltip player_id='1263883' first='Brody' last='Schafer'], QB, SIoux Falls Lincoln Twitter

Brody shows off to be one of best all-around quarterbacks we have in this 2027 class and has impressive instincts with his legs getting off his first read. Even at 5'11 155 pounds at the moment, Brody throws the ball like he is a heck of a lot bigger than that even as a freshmen as he showed off that same consistency that I saw from him this Spring. I felt watching his poise inside the pocket this Spring, showed even more than what he showed off from his fall tape, which is great to see the strides this young man has already made in a few short months. Could we have another quarterback from the Schafer family take over as QB1 in the class in the future? I can't wait to wait and see on that thought.

#1: [player_tooltip player_id='1264218' first='Brenner' last='Waldrop'], QB, Aberdeen Central

Upside is our bread and butter, and Aberdeen Central quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1264218' first='Brenner' last='Waldrop'] has a whole lot of it as our QB1 in the class. Brenner looks to be quietly instinctive with how quick his reads are from my eyes and the good info around Abeerdeen I have heard about this young man all speaks well to him. At 6'5 180 pounds, Brenner might not have all the readily available to us yet, but the quick releases and mechanics I have seen from him on intermediate routes he has showed at camps and on tape point at a very high ceiling for this young man to come.

Chase is a quarterback that is very undersized at the moment, however was one of our top 2027 quarterbacks with his testing numbers he put up at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Combine this Spring. With a hopeful growth spurt incoming, this is another Lynx quarterback to keep on your radar.

[player_tooltip player_id='1320906' first='Shooter' last='Frederick'], QB, Bennett County

I don't recall if we have ever had a Bennett County quarterback on our radar this early, but I liked the upside I saw out of [player_tooltip player_id='1320906' first='Shooter' last='Frederick'] who is one of my latest adds to our 2027 rankings. He showed off good speed out of RPOS on tape and although has some develop to brew with his ball placement. I also like how elusive he looks to be outside of the pocket as he does a good job at buying more time to find the open receiver. With some work with his throwing mechanics, I could see Shooter moving slightly up our rankings by next update by his first look
