The class of 2027 is full of sleeping giants ready to take leap forward this season. Most prospects who'll break out are relatively well known, but these are lesser-known "boom or wait" type of players. I could see all of these players have an insane breakout season, but I could also see these players having their breakout season in 2025. No matter the case, these sleeping giants will showcase their skillset one day. Here are five Sleeping Giants in the Class of 2027 who I think will eventually break out!

I really, really hope that I'm correct about Jamarion. Last season, Jamarion made several great, instinctual plays as a safety. To be a great safety, you need the same IQ and decisiveness as a middle linebacker. One step could decide an offensive touchdown and a defensive interception. Most of the time, that one step is dependent on how instinctive the safety is. Jamiron showcased a great feel for the game last season, and it looks like he has a solid athletic foundation. As long as Jamarion has improved this offseason, I'm expecting a big step up in production this season.

DB/ATH | [player_tooltip player_id='1185143' first='Mason' last='Hitchcock'] | Bloomfield Hills | @mjhitchcock08

Last season, Mason was a bit of a raw prospect. He saw the field a lot as a freshman and showed flashes on both sides of the ball. But generally, it was apparent that Mason was not used to Varsity football just yet. This season, I expect that to change. After attending a few camps and an overall great offseason, Mason should be ready to take his big step forward. Most notably, Mason has the size to be a Division 1 prospect as a physical wide receiver. A lot of colleges also like tall DBs, which he is. No matter the position, I hope to see Mason look more comfortable while continuing to make plays with his explosiveness and size.

DE | [player_tooltip player_id='1298563' first='Max' last='Bollman'] | Big Rapids | @BollmanMax

I'm extremely confident that Max will soon be a great Varsity football player. The question is how good he's going to end up being. At the MHSAA Camp in Jenison, Max was one of the most impressive incoming sophomores. He exploded off the ball and was able to use his speed to evade blocks. On top of that, he passes the eye test better than most. Max's ceiling could be limited due to his height, but I don't think that'll stop him from being a Division 2 prospect if he sticks at EDGE.

RB | [player_tooltip player_id='649723' first='Brady' last='Bullock'] | De La Salle | @BBullock2027

I could see Brady breaking out this season, but I could also see his breakout season coming in 2025. You see, De La Salle has one of the largest football programs in the state, maybe the largest if you consider their total enrollment. De La Salle was pretty banged up at RB last season, and it allowed a lot of young players to earn opportunities. That was the case for Brady. But now, with a healthy and undoubtedly crowded RB room, his breakout status relies on him earning a starting role. If he starts, a breakout season is inevitable. If he doesn't, I'd still expect Brady to get time in the many blowouts De La Salle will give out next season. From what I've seen, Brady is a power running back who excels in short-yardage situations, which is perfect for the De La Salle offense. He's as sleeping giant and I hope to see Brady break out this Fall!

WR | [player_tooltip player_id='1233455' first='Conor' last='Gallagher'] | Lansing Catholic | @c_gallagher10

Lastly, we've got [player_tooltip player_id='1233455' first='Conor' last='Gallagher']. I hope nobody overlooks Conor because Lansing Catholic currently has a few incredibly impressive receivers who are being underrated. Already, Conor has attended what seems like dozens of schools on visits and camps. All of his tape, whether it be offseason or in-season, show solid footwork, hands, and an overall great foundation. I do think Conor could be a little more explosive, but it's apparent that he knows how to run the route tree, and he has good hands. With athletic improvements, Conor could have a breakout season and have the offseason of his life next year.
