As the season nears, it's time to start setting our attention towards the players that will be on everyone's radar in the fall. After reviewing all of the QBs the state has to offer, it became apparent that each region needed it's own article devoted to the top QBs within it. There are a lot of names that colleges and scouts are aware of, but here are 5 of the QBs that are receiving attention, but in my view, deserve much more. Get a head start on knowing these names before Week 1.

If it was up to me, [player_tooltip player_id='205460' first='Kahden' last='Davis'] would be in the discussion as the top QB in the NJ 2027 class. Already receiving offers from Toledo and West Virginia, Kahden is prepared to show on the field why he should be considered the top prospect in the state. With limited snaps in 2023, Kahden is now taking over as the signal caller for Seton Hall Prep and will look to lead them to a deep playoff run. Kahden has been getting a ton of exposure over the offseason at multiple camps and showcases, and here is where we will break down the skills Kahden has developed and will deploy on his opponents this fall.

Starting off, Kahden is a stout, strong armed presence lining up in shotgun. He is built different than other QBs in the state. His frame takes on more of a Ben Roethlisberger look, making him not only a QB with a powerful arm but also a QB that is tough to bring down without the help of multiple defenders. Kahden's quick release allows him to hold the ball until the last moment to let his receiver break on their route and create separation for an on time throw. His vision also allows him to move through his progressions and never zone in on one of his targets. He has the foot work and field awareness to pivot in the pocket and zip the ball to the receiver with the best chance at making a play. Kahden truly is the full package and programs will be missing out if they don't reach out.

The second QB from the 2027 class that we'll cover, [player_tooltip player_id='910914' first='Andrew' last='Wright'] is a QB that I believe will gain a lot more recognition by the end of the 2024 season. Andrew is a playmaker in the truest sense, making clutch throws deep downfield all season long in 2023. While he may not be as polished as other top QBs in his class, Andrew makes up for it with gutsy throws, a powerful arm, and mobile tendencies.

Andrew's deep ball precision allowed Newark Central's offense to march downfield in large chunks as they picked up 20 to 30 yards at a time. Andrew had great chemistry with his receivers and really trusts them to come down with it when he throws into tight coverage. Not only could he trust in his receivers, but a lot of trust in his throwing capabilities as well. Andrew was often able to throw it on time with his receivers on the run, letting them run underneath it, and also could toss the ball high to let his guys out jump the defender for it. There is a lot to like in Andrew's game, and we will learn in 2024 how good he really can be.

The third sophomore on the list, [player_tooltip player_id='909997' first='Zachary' last='Concepcion'] is in a position to leap into the spotlight in 2024. With not a ton of field experience thus far in his career, Zachary has done an exceptional job building up momentum in offseason training and camps. A true duel threat quarterback, Zachary has demonstrated great footwork not only in the pocket but also maneuvering outside of the pocket as well. I haven't gotten the chance yet to see Zach take off with it, but I have a feeling that when the time comes defenses will have a tough time containing him.

Zach is another one of those powerful throwers that can launch the ball deep downfield and let is man run underneath it. The entire field is for Zach to throw to, as his field vision allows him to see everything unfold in front of him and anticipate where the defense and receivers will be. Zachary has been putting in a lot of work on the field and in the weight room this offseason, and I expect it all to pay off in 2024.

A quarterback with next level height already, [player_tooltip player_id='402270' first='Marco' last='Green'] will be a very talked about QB by the end of the 2024 season. In my opinion, Paramus Catholic has one of the best QBs in the state as their signal caller. Marco has nearly perfected his craft, demonstrating exceptional throwing mechanics through his drop back, arm motion, and follow through. More importantly, Marco's ability to slide around the pocket and feel the rush without taking his eyes off downfield has made him extremely lethal to defense's pass rush and coverage.

Standing with poise in the pocket, Marco can decipher the defensive coverage and pinpoint the best place to throw the ball. I am very impressed with the precision and timing Marco displayed in 2023. He showed he can throw on rhythm with the route and fit the ball into a tight window. Marco's ball placement keeps the throw away from the defender, increasing the success rate of Paramus Catholic's offense.

The final QB in the first part of this series, [player_tooltip player_id='212387' first='Jackson' last='Magley'] is one of the more underrated QBs in the northern part of the state. Jackson has the potential to elevate Randolph to the next level in 2024. Jackson has a cannon for an arm. Coming out of his drop back, Jackson drives powerfully off of his back foot and delivers a ball with a ton of speed behind it. Jackson's arm allows him to reach the far ends of the field, giving him the ability to out throw coverages and have all of his receivers available as targets. I am very impressed with Jackson's confidence in throwing into tight coverage, delivering the ball to the receiver right where it needs to be and out of reach of the defender.

Jackson is not strictly an arm talent either. Jackson can take off with it for big gains when the opportunity arises. Jackson's longer legs allows him to out run the defenders once he gets into the open field. Jackson is primed for some big performances this fall.
