2025 Rankings Update: Defensive Newcomers

<p><em>Breaking down the new names on the defensive side of the ball in Prep Redzone Nevada's latest 2025 rankings.</em></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Perez debuted as a top-30 prospect in Prep Redzone's latest 2025 Nevada rankings after picking up his first 4 D-I offers over the past five months. He's a strong, physical nickel/SS at 6'1”/195 that's shown his footwork, athleticism, and ability to cover the slot throughout offseason camps and 7v7s. He has excellent short-area quickness, is an aggressive second-level tackler, and shows great timing creating PBUs. He's a heavy hitter that shows some juice in his closing speed outside the OTs and possesses the strength to handle blockers along the interior at 6'1”/215. He's an instinctive defender that's quick to diagnose and react to the football. The 6'2"/190 FS totaled 30 tackles and a team-leading 3 INTs as a junior. He's a physical presence over the middle of the field with the athleticism, length, and range to make plays all over the secondary. He shows urgent downhill closing speed and is a punishing tackler after the catch. The 6'1”/190 CB offers size, athleticism, and instincts as a perimeter corner. He was effective in both man and zone coverage totaling 3 INTs as a junior and is a committed tackler near the sidelines. He's strong in press coverage using his hands/reach to disrupt timing and is aggressive to the ball in high-point situations. The 6'2”/225 LB totaled 43 tackles and 7 TFLs for a Mojave as a junior. He's an athletic on-ball defender that can get into the backfield with a quick first step and possesses the lateral range to tackle on the perimeter. He's still a bit raw in his technical skillset and needs to continue to improve the consistency of his leverage and pad level.
