Our senior crop of receivers isn't as deep as years past but that doesn't mean there isn't college talent throughout. Several guys you can read about below, sit under the radar but have the abilities to make their way to the next level with big senior years.

The Top Ten

The state's top ranked wideout for the #TN2025 class, Dodson brings several high quality traits to the playing field that should translate very well at the University of Tennessee. Dodson committed to the Vols early on in the process over several other high power programs, even before he made his move over to Baylor. The Red Raiders senior wideout is a problem to deal on the outside once he creates separation. Dodson has some of the best breakaway speed in the state to go along with his physicality at the point of attack. His size, speed combo as well as his ability to play over the top, makes Dodson a strong choice to be our top receiver in the state but he must continue working on his overall strength and skill set to remain at the top spot.

- - - - -

The Vols don't just have the top in-state receiver committed, they have our 2nd ranked wideout as well in this Memphis area playmaker. Jackson is a natural athlete that could honestly excel on either side of the ball but receiver is where he can shine the most inside the Southeastern Conference. What places the Knights offensive talent inside the #PRZTN Top 20 is his size and ability to run away from defenders once the ball is in his hands. Jackson is an explosive guy that makes his money after the catch but can also use his physicality to work through defenders while maintaining his speed. All this guy has done at Sheffield is produce at a high level. He definitely earned last year's Mr. Football award with a monster junior year and I wouldn't be surprised if has another big season this Fall.

- - - - -

Taking the third spot inside the receiver rankings is our top rated slot wideout that sports some of the best speed from the #TN2025 class. Hubbard can get off the line in a hurry then use his outstanding speed to separate from his defender in a big way. The Raptors receiver gets from “Point A” to “Point B” quickly while showing nice body control. He is also well built for his size with room to continue adding in more weight. Besides working the slot at MTSU, where he committed last month, Hubbard might also develop into a return guy as he has experience doing so at Ravenwood and shows the upside to become even more dynamic in that area with the Blue Raiders. Personally I think this guy is a steal for MTSU, who plays a consistent brand of football that could excel even further in college.

- - - - -

Elite quickness, lateral movements and speed are the first things you recognize when watching Kinnard on film. This Nashville area athlete is a bit undersized but it doesn't matter as Kinnard competes, plays much bigger due to his natural athletic abilities. Defenders have a very hard time dealing with the Firebirds wideout because Kinnard has some of the best feet and short space quickness in the state. His sudden movements away from defenders is impressive as well as his ability to create separation very quickly. Kinnard is such an athlete that you could play him at running back and give him carries. Maybe he can develop into a return man in college too. This guy is simply a playmaker that can find the end zone any time the ball is in his hands.

- - - - -

Many across the country may not know too much about this West Tennessee playmaker but trust me, Waller can play and his skills translate very well to the college game, maybe even the D1 level. The Lions senior wideout plays a consistent brand of football but also brings strong athleticism and foot speed to the playing field as well. Waller might be the best pure route runner from the #TN2025 class. I had the chance to watch him perform in person a few months ago and he was near elite and precise with everything he did. Besides his route running, Waller has quick feet that allows him to get in and out of break fast. He is also a great deep ball receiver that does really well with contested catches. Waller does need to continue packing on more size and weight but the ball skills and natural athletic abilities are there to find himself playing on the D1 level one day.

#TN2025 Senior Receiver Rankings

- - - - -

The other piece of the Firebirds dynamic duo at wideout, Higgins is your deep threat, a guy that can beat his defender off the line then use his speed to get behind the defense. Higgins is a no nonsense style runner that gets into his routes quickly and looks for the ball immediately. He has a versatile receiving skill set that allows him to play outside or in the slot. There is a reason this Mid-Tennessee talent is ranked inside the Top 50 and has multiple D1 offers. Higgins is a baller that I feel still has another level to his game that could start to filter out this Fall. It may be tough to crack the Top Five but I could see Higgins jumping into our Top 40 overall prospects in the next update after a strong senior year.

- - - - -

Placing 7th among our ranked receivers, Clifton is the first guy on this list that fits the “power forward” style wideout that brings great physicality to the field along with strong concentration with contested catches. His junior film shows excellent body control, strong, powerful as well as the ability to work deep and bring in the pass with defenders draped all over him. Another area that I like about Clifton is his work in the red zone. The Eagles senior pass catcher is a tough matchup near the goal line where his size, hands and physicality takeover. If Clifton can increase his agility and speed this off-season and display it throughout his senior year, his stock may explode and force Power Four programs to get involved.

- - - - -

Hayes, Jr was an intriguing guy to leave out of the top seven receivers but I think he can move up in our next updated rankings after another stellar year with the Wildcats. Last season as a junior, Hayes, Jr had a breakout campaign where he put up over 1,000 yards through the air and established himself as a bonafide college prospect. What you like the most about this Williamson County product is his ability to work deep and make tough catches through traffic. The Wildcats senior pass catcher shows excellent concentration with defenders around him then uses his basketball skills to make wow plays. Hayes, Jr is big and skilled enough to work outside or move inside to play the slot. He is a savvy ball player that could become even better with increased agility and speed. Keep an eye out on this two-sport playmaker that might play his way into Power Four status by season's end.

- - - - -

Tall with a wide radius and big hands, Butler is an impressive physical specimen that is a mismatch problem for smaller defenders and potentially one of the better red zone threat receivers from our senior class. The Panthers pass catcher places inside our Top Ten not just because of his size but also because of his potential to become an excellent run after the catch wideout on the collegiate level. Butler isn't a blazer but he has good enough speed to get the job done but it's his physicality after the catch that makes him dangerous. Once you get down to the red zone, Butler becomes a problem in that area too. His agility and speed are the two areas that's keeping Butler outside the Top 8 right now but can change in time if this Memphis area big man can enhance his skill set further.

- - - - -

Merrill heads into his senior year as one of the better slot receiver prospects in our senior class and a guy that can boost his stock significantly with good work in Summer camps and a breakout senior year. Ranking 10th among our receivers, Merrill is a consistent ball player that does just about everything right while providing athleticism and big play abilities. Where this Mid-Tennessee product stands out the most is with his concentration and route running. Merrill shows shifty feet and lower base body control that allows him to get in and out of his breaks quickly then haul in the pass with his strong hands. The Bruins wideout is also an excellent return man that could bring back kicks in college. His work in the slot and on special teams will be on display this Fall at Brentwood but also in Clarksville next year as last month, Merrill committed to Austin Peay.

- - - - -

Other Ranked WR's

[player_tooltip player_id='1215424' first='Khani' last='Johnson'] - Tullahoma (11th ranked WR/122nd overall)

- Keep an eye out on this Southern Middle Tennessee wideout this Fall as Johnson is one of the fastest prospects we have from the #TN2025 class. His ability to get into open field is exceptional but then shows outstanding separation once the ball is in his hands. Johnson is one of the top return men in this class as well.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='540017' first='Derrick' last='Miller'] - Houston (12th ranked WR/134th overall)

- For a player standing about 5'9 160 plus pounds, Miller shows some of the best hands in the state. Watching his junior film, the Mustangs wideout shows excellent concentration, especially with contested catches. He can also run too, which works well in the slot to go along with his size.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='390641' first='Aja' last='Jones'] - Marshall Co. (13th ranked WR/152nd overall)

- Jones has been a productive receiver for his Marshall Co. team over the past two years but is still far from reaching his utmost abilities. This guy can run and it shows up more in short spaces where he uses his quickness to shift away from defenders then separate due to his speed.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='1207515' first='Hunter' last='Glasgow'] - McCallie (14th ranked WR/158th overall)

- A new member to the state of Tennessee, Glasgow is a big dude that gets in and out of his breaks well while showing concentration and strong hands. The Blue Tornado senior wideout also has the size and ball skills to develop into a nice red zone threat that can go up and get the ball at its highest point.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='341251' first='Amir' last='Wilson'] - St. Georges (15th ranked WR/169th overall)

- This Memphis area receiver is a hidden gem that could be a steal for whoever he signs with. Wilson brings several strong traits to the field that translate well to the next level, especially his speed and ability to separate easily from defenders.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='1185015' first='Robbie' last='Jacobs'] - Farragut (16th ranked WR/189th overall)

- Jacobs is one of the more under the radar wideouts we have from our senior class that can run and get into the open field quickly. He has the physicality and ball skills to work outside and down field but his upside may reside best inside at slot.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='1209539' first='Jayden' last='Moore'] - Boyd Buchanan (17th ranked WR/200th overall)

- Moore is a dynamic wideout that fits well in the slot where he can use his undersized frame but athletic skill set to excel. This Chattanooga area pass catcher shows some of the best vert on film along with the willingness to catch the ball through contact.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='1273609' first='Tyreque' last='McCarver'] - Smyrna (18th ranked WR/209th overall)

- Big play abilities come with McCarver. He is undersized but makes up for it with his ability to get behind defenders with his speed and separate into the open field. The Bulldogs senior wideout fits well in the slot but could develop into a good return man on the next level.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='390640' first='Max' last='Kimpel'] - Ravenwood (19th ranked WR/217th overall)

- A possession style wideout with strong hands, Kimpel is a steady performer for his Raptors team that works well on the outside using his body and strength to shield off defenders. He is also a deceptive athlete and good route runner that will improve as he continues to grow and mature.

- - - - -

[player_tooltip player_id='1207785' first='Jayden' last='Guy'] - Blackman (20th ranked WR/244th overall)

- Raw but highly talented, Guy is one of the more explosive wideouts we have from the #TN2025 class that has big time speed. The Blaze senior pass catcher is one of the fastest, straight line speed receivers in the state with big potential that can continue to be filled out on the collegiate level.

Tennessee Top 250

- - - - -

WR's Just Outside Top 250

[player_tooltip player_id='783023' first='Luke' last='Cannon'] - Alcoa (21st ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='1213957' first='Will' last='Kelley'] - CAK (22nd ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='839499' first='Alexis' last='LeClerc'] - Baylor (23rd ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='1042282' first='John' last='Dragoo Jr'], - Blackman (24th ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='1142025' first='Kenneth' last='Holt'] - White House (25th ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='1209527' first='Darin' last='Shannon'] - Boyd Buchanan (26th ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='1209535' first='Hudson' last='Wamack'] - Boyd Buchanan (27th ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='361235' first='Britton' last='Barrett'] - Maryville (28th ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='1125380' first='Hudson' last='Makuch'] - Walker Valley (29th ranked WR)

[player_tooltip player_id='408917' first='Maclean' last='Copeland'] - Page (30th ranked WR)

Our senior crop of receivers isn't as deep as years past but that doesn't mean there isn't college talent throughout. Several guys you can read about below, sit under the radar but have the abilities to make their way to the next level with big senior years.
