Expert Analysis
Chris Smith | Prep Redzone Scout
Tall with a wide radius and big hands, Butler is an impressive physical specimen that is a mismatch problem for smaller defenders and potentially one of the better red zone threat receivers from our senior class. The Panthers pass catcher places inside our Top Ten not just because of his size but also because of his potential to become an excellent run after the catch wideout on the collegiate level. Butler isn’t a blazer but he has good enough speed to get the job done but it’s his physicality after the catch that makes him dangerous. Once you get down to the red zone, Butler becomes a problem in that area too. His agility and speed are the two areas that’s keeping Butler outside the Top 8 right now but can change in time if this Memphis area big man can enhance his skill set further.

Little was known about this Memphis area receiver going into the off-season but Butler is a big dude with length and a wide radius along with the ball skills that can translate well to the collegiate game. Sporting college size already, the Panthers junior pass catcher looks the part walking off the bus, so from a physical standpoint, Butler has tons of tools to work with and develop. What I like most about this 6’4 receiver right now is his ability to use his body to shield off defenders. He is a power forward style pass catcher that could become an excellent red zone threat. Butler is still coming into his body while still learning the game, so much is there to be developed but the natural tools and traits are there to become a highly recruited prospect.
