Roskopf looks to take over the QB1 role on a possible open division contender at Desert Edge after transferring over from Liberty. With Hezekiah Millender transferring out of state, the young gunslinger should be set up for success at DEHS given the amount of talent around him and the weapons he'll have to get the rock to. From a talent perspective, Roskopf has been flashing signs of breaking out and making himself a division 1 recruit, and if he can have a hot start early on in the year, I would imagine he starts to see those offers pour in. A 6'5" 225lb kid that throws with velocity, accuracy, and timing with good mechanics in the pocket. Really excited to see what this kid can do come August.

Dylan Rarden, Notre Dame Prep '25

Rarden will have some big shoes to fill after backing up multi year starter Noah Trigueros for a few years, but having the top 2024 WR on his side will help him out a ton entering his first year as a starter. He's been looking solid this summer in 7v7's, showing a good understanding of that offense and delivering throws with velocity and timing. He's got a quick release and does a great job recognizing overages early and knowing when to get it out, and he has the potential to come out of nowhere and light up 5A this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1587237' first='Colten' last='Meyer'], Marana '26

Meyer saw some action last year and showed a really good pocket presence for a young QB, frequently stepping up in the pocket with anticipation to deliver a throw. Very accurate on outside vertical routes as he showed the ability to finesse throws in with touch and perfect placement. He has a bit of a sidearm throwing angle on film so if he can adjust his mechanics a bit more over the top, I think it'll give him more velocity on those tight window throws. H has a dangerous kid to throw to with Roebuck continuing to make noise, so Meyer will have a huge opportunity to step in and do some damage to put himself on the map.

Herges: Bryce will compete for the QB1 job after doing really well last season in his 5 game span throwing for 383 yards and 5 TD's, while adding 2 TD's on the ground. He has big time varsity experience as he saw some good play time as a sophomore when he was at Chaparral. Herges is a really athletic kid that has shown he has the ability to start at the highest levels of high school football, and it'll be a competitive summer for him which is something he's used to.

Garduno: Garduno can flat out play and regardless if he gets the nod this year or not, he should be in the conversation of young emerging QB's across the state. He didn't see a ton of action last year, but has been developing super quick and is on a rapid upward trajectory. I really like his demeanor to drive the ball downfield with authority, as he flashes good arm strength both in velocity and vertically, and will only continue to improve and make plays.
