There’s a lot going on with our guys around the state. Here’s are updates on their recruitment:
-Seven of the top eight players in our Prep Redzone Iowa class rankings have verbally committed to colleges. No. 1-ranked Nick Brooks Nick Brooks 6'8" | 355 lbs | OL Cedar Rapids Kennedy | 2025 State IA has kicked off his official-visit tour in hopes of finding his home. He started with Georgia last weekend with USC, Texas and Iowa up before the end of the month.
Brooks, who verbally committed to Iowa last September before reopening his recruitment a month later, hasn’t set a new commitment date.
-No. 9 prospect Mason Woods Mason Woods 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Iowa City West | 2025 State IA will officially visit Iowa on June 21. His father, LeVar Woods, is an assistant coach there. He also reports offers from Kansas State, Kansas, Missouri and others but has not announced any more official trips.
-The recruitment of No. 13 Will Hawthorne Will Hawthorne 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Gilbert | 2025 State IA remains steady after he announced an offer from Kansas State on Sunday. He knows shows offers from the Wildcats, Kansas, Iowa State, Harvard, Princeton and quite a few others.
-One of the state’s top quarterback prospects came off of the board this week. On Friday, Davenport North signal caller Kaz Rebarcak Kaz Rebarcak 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Davenport North | 2025 State IA camped with Northern Iowa, picked up a Panther scholarship offer and committed to the program.
-Gilbert linebacker Will Hawthorne Will Hawthorne 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Gilbert | 2025 State IA continued his impressive ascension as of late. He reported a scholarship offer from Nebraska on Saturday, adding it to opportunities arriving in the last month from Kansas, Kansas State and Western Michigan. Iowa State and others offered before that.
-Sioux City East receiver Louden Grimsely chose his college on May 19. North Dakota State received the pledge from our second-ranked wideout in the class.
-Clear Creek Amana defensive lineman Brody Clubb Brody Clubb 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Clear Creek-Amana | 2025 State IA will be teaming up with Grimsley in Fargo. He announced his verbal commitment on May 6.
-West Des Moines Valley offensive lineman Marcus McGregor Marcus McGregor 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Valley WDM | 2025 State IA enjoyed a productive May on the recruiting trail. North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana offered scholarships. He had reported opportunities from Wyoming and Northern Iowa.
– Ethan Wood Ethan Wood 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Mount Vernon | 2025 State IA proved himself during team camps at North Dakota, South Dakota and Northern Iowa earlier this month. The three programs offered the Mount Vernon defensive lineman after their events.
-Offensive lineman Connor Best Connor Best 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Cedar Falls | 2025 State IA has seen his recruitment pick up. The Cedar Falls senior reported receiving offers from Northern Iowa, North Dakota and Grand View since May 22.
-Army, Air Force, South Dakota, North Dakota State and Western Illinois have offered Southeast Polk’s Sam Zelenovich Sam Zelenovich 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Southeast Polk | 2025 State IA since the calendar flipped to May. Northern Iowa and Sioux Falls had previously extended opportunities.
-May was a solid month for Elijah Hoyt Elijah Hoyt 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Urbandale | 2025 State IA . The Urbandale defensive back announced scholarship offers from Northern Iowa and Western Illinois.
-Cedar Falls senior Kailer Smith Kailer Smith 6'6" | 230 lbs | TE Cedar Falls | 2025 State IA is putting together a diverse collection of offers. In May, Air Force, Austin Peay, Tennessee State, St. Thomas and Eastern Illinois jumped in with the talented tight end. UNI, Western Illinois and others also have offered.
-Army, Sioux Falls and Wayne State reportedly offered scholarships to Luke Sternberg Luke Sternberg 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB AHSTW | 2025 State IA during the last month or so. Air Force offered in April.
-Offensive lineman Tyler Rindels Tyler Rindels 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL Iowa City | 2025 State IA reported scholarship offers from South Dakota, St. Thomas, Sioux Falls and Minnesota-Duluth in June.
-West Des Moines Valley’s Zach Schemper Zach Schemper 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Valley | 2025 State IA claimed offers from St. Thomas, North Dakota, Concordia and Wisconsin-Platteville since May began.
– Lathan McDaniel Lathan McDaniel 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Indianola | 2025 State IA , a lineman from Indianola, reported offers from South Dakota, St. Thomas, Wayne State and Winona State Since May 13.
-Winfield-Mount Union lineman Cooper Buffington Cooper Buffington 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Winfield Mt. Union | 2025 State IA picked up offers from South Dakota and Sioux Falls during the last couple months.
– Carter Johnson Carter Johnson 6'4" | 210 lbs | DB Waukee | 2025 State IA , a defensive back from Waukee, reported scholarship offers from St. Thomas and Sioux Falls in May. He added them to an opportunity from Minnesota State.
-Dowling linebacker Dylan Manning Dylan Manning 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA announced an offer from North Dakota in May 31. He’d previously reported the same chance from Lindenwood.
-St. Thomas became the first DI offer for Iowa City High quarterback Bobby Bacon Bobby Bacon 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Iowa City | 2025 State IA on May 15. DII Central Missouri State and Pitt State also have offered him recently.
-Sioux Falls offered Gabe Meaney Gabe Meaney 6'6" | 225 lbs | TE Janesville CSD | 2025 State IA in May. He previously had announced an opportunity from Western Illinois.
-Minnesota State and Wayne State offered Tate Hawf Tate Hawf 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB West Lyon | 2025 State IA in May after Grand View did so the previous month.
-Iowa City High tight end Parker Sutherland Parker Sutherland 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Iowa City | 2025 State IA has picked up offers from Sioux Falls and Wayne State since the middle of May.
– Vincenzo Gianforte Vincenzo Gianforte 6'0" | 195 lbs | QB Cedar Rapids Kennedy | 2025 State IA reported opportunities from Grand View and Upper Iowa in May.
– Jack Wallace Jack Wallace 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Iowa City West | 2025 State IA , a quarterback at Iowa City West, announced an offer from Minnesota State on May 11.
-Grand View and Wisconsin-Platteville recently provided Valley’s Cam Cribari Cam Cribari 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Valley | 2025 State IA chances to play on the next level.
-Kennedy’s Pierce McCrary Pierce McCrary 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Cedar Rapids Kennedy | 2025 State IA reported opportunities from Upper Iowa and Grand View since May 21.
– Ahman Langton Ahman Langton 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR MOC-Floyd Valley | 2025 State IA claimed offers from Sioux Falls and Grand View this month.
-Grand View offered Liberty’s Sutton Koller Sutton Koller 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Iowa City Liberty | 2025 State IA on June 2.
