PRZ Combine Series NC: Competition Notes

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>CLAYTON </strong>| Saturday's Prep Redzone Combine concluded with a competitive round between the quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs. And it is always fun to watch and it did not disappoint.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's jump into our notes from the final session of the day:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lejeune WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1200753' first='Andrew' last='Finnerty'] </strong>ran his routes at full speed – that was no more evident on a vertical route where he outran the defender.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='714586' first='Carson' last='Jones'] </strong>has an impressive arm and can put the ball on the money. The same can be said of Hank<strong> Nunnery </strong>of Orange.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hampton's <strong>Justin Batiste </strong>made a nice catch on the rail route to run past the defender for the touchdown.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Davie County WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1148569' first='Ethan' last='Driver'] </strong>(pictured above) was a guy who caught our eye throughout the afternoon. He made an impressive catch near the sideline. He is able to snatch the ball out of the air to where only he can get it. One comment from a coach: “This kid can run.” That was evident on a touchdown catch where he ran right underneath it and caught it in stride.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Gabe Shirley </strong>from North Raleigh Christian Academy had a nice pass breakup on another rail route from the back where it looked like the back had a chance to make the catch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/05/prz-combine-series-north-carolina-mvps/">One of the MVPs from Saturday's combine</a> was <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='653512' first='Shon' last='Pone Jr'] </strong>of Seventy First. He made a nice acrobatic catch, putting two hands on it so there was no chance for the defender to come in and jar the ball loose.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='561878' first='Terris' last='Hobbs']</strong> of Clayton made an excellent adjustment to a ball that was thrown to make the catch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
