Deionte Flemings is a talented defensive back who I had the pleasure of recently watching play at the Prep Redzone 7 on 7 tournament. I was impressed with him as both a wide receiver and a defensive back. At both positions, he shows good athleticism and speed. At defensive back specifically, he shows good coverage skills and does an excellent job breaking on the ball thrown his way. Flemings has a ton of potential as a defensive back or a wide receiver.
Highlights
Douglas Thompson shows elite coverage skills for a young defensive back. He does a nice job of covering wide receiver in man-t0-man defense. He regularly stays hip-to-hip with the offensive player when they try to break open. Then when the ball is thrown in his direction he has good ball skills to make a play on the ball. Thompson has elite coverage skills and will only get better in the future.
Javieon Plaza Javieon Plaza 5’10” | 165 lbs | DB Imhotep | 2028 PA is a legit athlete who can do many different things on both sides of the ball. At safety, he showed the ability to tackle in the open field. He is a heavy hitter that offensive players know when he is playing safety from his tackling ability. At wide receiver, he shows big-time plays. On one play, I saw he took a wide receiver screen went through the defense, and went for a 60-yard touchdown. Plaza has all the tools to play at a high level in high school.
Joe McCulley Joe McCulley 5’10” | 155 lbs | DB St. Joe’s Prep | 2028 PA projects as an outside linebacker/strong safety in high school. Looking at his film he played as a running back and linebacker. As a running back he showed a physical running style. He is hard to bring down and he is elusive when he is running with the ball. At linebacker, he showed a good ability to read his keys and come upfield to make tackles. He has the skill to be a good linebacker or strong safety who plays as a flat defender. He could also develop into a free safety because of his athleticism.
Mijour Reid Mijour Reid DB Woodland Hills | 2028 PA is a talented athlete in the 2028 class. He has elite coverage skills for a cornerback. He does a great job in man-to-man defense. When a ball his thrown at a wide receiver he gets his hands on the ball and he can knock the ball free. Reid also shows a nose for coming upfield to make a tackle. He has all the tools to play at a high level.
