Previously ranked No. 67 out of 200 prospects, Douglas Thompson actually climbs to No. 65 despite the rankings expanding by 300 additional players. The Imhotep product holds offers from Morgan State, UMass, Akron, and Howard, giving him one of the stronger recruiting resumes among linebackers in the class. At 6’1, 205 pounds, Thompson currently ranks as the No. 3 linebacker in Pennsylvania’s 2028 class. Maintaining and improving his ranking under these circumstances is a major accomplishment. In my opinion, programs such as Pitt and Maryland should be paying close attention moving forward. Thompson has already proven he belongs in the upper tier of linebackers statewide. The recruiting profile continues to improve. A jump into even higher territory remains very realistic.

Technically not a new name to the site, yet I finally have substantial tape to warrant Thompson’s high ranking. Legit 6’2, 190 pounds. Sophomore tape contains about five minutes worth of quality tape. Currently ranked as a DB, which will likely stay despite Thompson’s contributions inside the front-seven. This is a linebacker capable prospect, one who could start at OLB or nickel corner. Tape blends pass coverage reps with sacks and TFLs, a serious experimental prospect here who could develop into an FBS prospect.

Douglas Thompson shows elite coverage skills for a young defensive back. He does a nice job of covering wide receiver in man-t0-man defense. He regularly stays hip-to-hip with the offensive player when they try to break open. Then when the ball is thrown in his direction he has good ball skills to make a play on the ball. Thompson has elite coverage skills and will only get better in the future.
