This brand-new league now houses four state-championship caliber programs in Unity Christian, Zeeland West, Forest Hills Central, and South Christian. This is going to be an exciting league to watch! Now, let’s go over five high-upside talents from the OK-Gold. I’ll be covering a few players from Zeeland West, Zeeland East, and South Christian. Check back tomorrow for more OK-Gold coverage!
’25 LB | Will Stehouwer | Zeeland East | @WillStehouwer
Will is another potential sleeper in the class of 2025, because I like his tape quite a bit. He’s an off-ball inside linebacker with physicality, solid speed, and great reaction time bordering on anticipation. Something I see extremely often in linebackers is timidness and slow reaction time. Will is the opposite of that. He’s not quite at the point where he knows what the offense is going to do before the play starts, but he does react extremely quickly to the play and doesn’t waste a step in getting to the ballcarrier. Against inside runs, Will attacks the hole while working through blocks with great physicality. He can also move sideline to sideline very well and takes aggressive but effective pursuit angles.
’25 DL | Brody Maas Brody Maas 6'1" | 175 lbs | DL Zeeland West | 2025 State MI | Zeeland West | @BrodyMaas128
Although Brody isn’t the biggest defensive end, he’s very well-coached and has great anchor + physicality. Even against teams known for great O-line play, Brody finds a way to stand his ground and quickly shed the block once a ballcarrier gets close. Right out of his stance, he tries to get hands on his blocker and read the field. If it’s a pass, Brody is able to put a hand up, and he succeeds getting in front of the passing lane quite a bit. Against the run, he just doesn’t get moved very often. If Brody can bulk up and improve his strength, he’ll be a college prospect.
’25 DB/RB | Keaton Hendricks | Zeeland West | @keatonhendrick
Keaton is a high-upside defensive back with great speed. Just watch the highlight at 0:36. After he intercepts the pass, Keaton turns on the burners and returns it 65 yards for the touchdown. His track stats back me up; 23.56s 200M, 52.89s 400M, and 40.29s 300m Hurdles are all great times. They aren’t elite times, but they do show good speed and potential to play at the next level. He also has a few good pass defense highlights. While in zone, he does a great job at breaking on the receiver and focusing an incomplete pass. He also plays off man and doesn’t let anything get behind him. Keaton is also a phenomenal run-stopper who’s a heat-seeking missile once the ball is handed off. Great stuff, and he could earn D3 offers very soon with good camp showings.
’26 DE | Marshall Johnson Marshall Johnson 5'11" | 215 lbs | DL Zeeland West | 2026 State MI | Zeeland West | Hudl
Marshall is another athletic defensive lineman from Zeeland West. As expected, he has a ton of similarities to Brody Maas Brody Maas 6'1" | 175 lbs | DL Zeeland West | 2025 State MI . Marshall has good effort and motor, while doing his best and oftentimes succeeding in making tackles and getting in the way of passing lanes. He needs to work on his hands and anchor, but the foundation is there. He’s a 2026 prospect, so Marshall has quite a bit of time to develop. Excited to see what he can do next season!
’25 OLB | Tyler Brinks | South Christian | @tyler_brinks
Tyler is a rock-solid outside linebacker who plays his role extremely well. I especially like when he plays on-ball. There, he’s a speedy rusher and run-stopper who has a bit more tenacity and motor than most other OLBs. His self-reported 6’5″ height makes him an extremely high-ceiling EDGE rusher. Bulk up a bit more, and Tyler could be a superstar next season.
