Scout’s Notes: Offensive Line
Seneca has a mountain of a young man in Patrick Degnan Patrick Degnan 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Seneca | 2026 NJ . Degnan has a great kick step that is powerful, extensive, and purposeful. This allows him handle speed rushers with ease. On the flip side of that, he is able to power down effectively. I encourage Degnan to be patient on the snap and wait for his assignment to get upfield. Doing so will prevent him from lunging, over extending, and thus throw himself off balance….. Jordan Evans Jordan Evans 6'3" | 260 lbs | OL Rancocas Valley | 2026 NJ is an interesting prospect out of Rancocas Valley. To me, Evans has the ideal build for an offensive tackle. He has broad shoulders, a big back, sturdy legs, and a barreling chest. I did not get the best look at him in person, however, he is now on my radar for the class of 2026….. Making the trek down from Big Central Country was Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s Shane Hickey Shane Hickey OL Scotch Plains-Fanwood | 2026 NJ . Hickey is an offensive lineman that always appears ready to attack with a 60/40 forward lean in his stance. This carries over ever-so-slightly as he climbs and engages wtih linebackers on the second level….. There might not have been a prospect more impressive than Spencer Placek Spencer Placek 6'5" | 260 lbs | OL Manchester | 2025 NJ . His 6’5″ frame towers over opponents as he is a lean 6’5″ where all of his 255lbs is disbursed well throughout his frame. I want to see Placek continue to work on his flexibility, which will enable him to bend better and stay lower, particularly at the second level.
Closing out this piece is John Prokapus III John Prokapus III 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Shawnee | 2025 NJ . Shawnee’s rising junior was a prospect at least twice last spring and am happy that I saw him again. Prokapus is really progressing and aiming to be one of the top public school offensive linemen in his class. First, Prokapus body has significantly changed from what I remember. Last year I recall him having a big frame the build in; Prokapus now is built like a grown man. Moreover, Prokapus has not sacrificed flexibility for strength, as he appears to be adding both – as measured by how his body has morphed and how well he was able to bend throughout the day. Moving over to the technical aspects of Prokapus’ game, I really liked his steps and how his feet were – powerful and quick. During one rep he took he was cross-faced but was physical with his opponent and had the fleet feet to drive his opponent across the pocket for the win. Lastly, Prokapus consistently finished his blocks on just about each and every rep I caught of him.
