While they may have not earned MVP at their positions there were several players who definitely stood out at their positions. In this article I take a look at the top players who took home top 5 spots at their positions for the combine.

Defensive backs
2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1279501' first='Jeremiah' last='Moore'] (Groveport Madison) 6'3 175- Moore (Pictured Above) had an outstanding day. He tested well and he did a great job in the position drills and 1v1's. He has an elite combination of length and athleticism. He has loose hips and he's an explosive athlete. He was in the hip pocket of the wide receivers all afternoon. There's no doubt in my mind that he's a D1 caliber player who I expect to blow up this summer.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1132798' first='Marsean' last='Bowles'] (Columbus East) 5'7 145- Though smaller in stature, Bowles play big. He showed a smooth backpedal and the athleticism to stay with receivers in and out of their breaks. I love the edge and confidence he competed with. He's a young man that's not going to back down. You have to love that out of your cornerbacks!

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1279507' first='Cedric' last='Holman Jr.'] (Hilliard Darby) 5'10 170- Cedric is a corner who I thought was older than he was on first look. The sophomore cornerback stood up well athletically to the older competition he was facing. He showed good patience in his technique and trusted his athleticism and abilities to get the job done. As he continues to get stronger he should grow into a really well rounded back who can play the run and the pass at a high level.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1279510' first='Davon' last='Lewis'] (South Point) 5'7 160- Lewis is a sophomore back who isn't afraid to be physical and put his hands on receivers. When the ball goes up he did a good job of getting his head turned and playing the ball. He's a scrappy defender who took on all competition an did a good job winning his share of reps.

Linebackers
2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1279519' first='Shawn' last='Kincaid'] (Wadsworth) 5'11 215- Watching Kincaid in the position drills he showed really quick feet and great body control. He had loose hips that were on a swivel and showed good explosiveness getting downhill to attack the ball. He's a linebacker who I think could play either inside or outside.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1279518' first='Kameron' last='Robinson'] (Olentangy Orange) 5'10 175- Robinson was another linebacker whose athleticism flashed. He's a fluid athlete who plays with a strong base and good balance. Kameron has a good build that lends him to playing a physical brand of football. I like him as an inside linebacker at the next level. I'm excited to get a look at some game film and take a look at him in pads where he can run and hit.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1279514' first='Camden' last='Cruea'] (Arlington) 5'7 180- Camden is a player who showed good short space quickness. In the drills he showed a smooth transition from backpedal and shuffle to downhill. He has good lateral movement skills. With the way he worked and went about his business you see a player who can be a leader of a defense.

2028 [player_tooltip player_id='586870' first='Josiah' last='Tillman'] (Olmsted Falls) 5'10 160- Though a lot younger than many of the other players who participated, Tillman, more than held his own. Tillman possessed a quiet confidence and an eagerness to compete. You could see him soaking up and taking the coaching he received. He has the body type to continue to put on weight and add strength. Where he really impresses me right now is in his athleticism and ability to play in space. As an incoming freshman he has a lot of time to continue to develop, but it's easy to see he's putting in the work.

Defensive Line
2027 [player_tooltip player_id='652507' first='Brody' last='Simpkins'] (Rock Hill) 6'2 200- Simpkins, a sophomore to be, who definitely looks the part. What stood out to me first about his play was the physicality he played with. He showed violent hands and aggressive moves when working on pass rush techniques. Brody projects as a strongside defensive end. As his pass rush techniques start becoming more comfortable and he gets his timing down, he'll add more of a pass rush aspect to his game.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1279515' first='Evan' last='Murfield'] (New Albany) 6'4 205- Evan is a long athlete. He really just seems to be growing into his body. Evan showed the ability to take coaching and apply it to what he was doing in the pass rush hand techniques. In 1v1's he showed a good burst and the ability to long arm the offensive linemen and use his strength to win. Evan is really just starting to scratch the surface of what he can be as a defensive lineman. The length, bend, and athleticism are there, it's just a matter of continuing to get stronger and refine his techniques.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1207691' first='Darryn' last='Howery'] (University School) 5'11 215- Howery is an interior defender who has a good burst off the ball. He does a good job of using his quickness to get an advantage over opposing blockers. As he continues to grow and get stronger, I'm interested to see how he can add a power component to his game.

2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1279543' first='Zachary' last='Nicodemus'] (Grove City) 6'2 205- Nicodemus has impressive size for an incoming freshman. He wears his weight well. At this point in his career Nicodemus is more of a power rusher. He does a good job of using his size and strength to win. He plays with a good pad level and uses his length well. As he continues to develop the focus should be more on his ability to bend and be explosive. If he can do that I really like his upside.
