Darryn had a great Sophomore season in 2024. His great play was a bright spot in the 5-6 season of the University School Preppers. He plays as a DT. Against the pass, he is quick off the ball before penetrating the LOS into the backfield. He plays with a good motor in pursuit before finishing up with a sack. Against the run, he uses his good play strength and physical toughness to disengage. He does an excellent job of playing until the whistle as he makes the tackle preventing a touchdown.

At 5’11 215 Howery has a frame that wears his weight well. He projects to the defensive tackle position. Howery has a strong bull rush that he uses to overwhelm offensive linemen. He has the lateral movement to get outside of blockers. He has a motor that runs hot. Where I think Howery has the most room for growth is in the use of his hands. When he stalls, he has a tendency to get chest to chest with the blockers. If he can start to develop violent hands and I really think he’ll be able to take his game to another level.
