With our 2027 rankings update being officially released, I have taken the past couple weeks to highlight the top players at each position. Now that those top players have been covered, I wanted to focus on some more under the radar players in the class. The players that I'm now going to focus on are players who saw themselves climb in our rankings since the initial release for the class but are just outside the top five at their position. With that being said, here are some notable “Stock Risers” from our 2027 rankings update to keep an eye on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200561' first='Jermiah' last='Turner'] seems to be one of the next in line to come up through a Frederick Douglass program that has had a very impressive history of producing college talent. Turner is an electric playmaker on offense who does most of his damage as a ball carrier. He has impressive vision, showing the ability to find the running lane quickly then use his explosive speed to burst through it in a hurry. Once he hits the open field, he is able to use that speed to run away from the defense but has also shown the contact balance to break tackles without losing stride. He has also shown the ability to line up in the slot and pose as a threat in the passing game. Turner currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as his role on this Broncos team continues to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id='482999' first='Gage' last='Chapman'] is a player who is coming off a solid freshman year. Chapman lines up at inside linebacker where he is very impressive against the run. He has shown the ability to read his keys quickly and then use his speed to flow to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle. Chapman finished this past season with 66 tackles and two tackles for loss in eight games. He also showed the ability to put pressure on the quarterback, finishing the year with three sacks. Gage doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on over the next three seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200572' first='DJ' last='Hightower'] is another linebacker who had a solid freshman year. Hightower lines up at outside linebacker where he is very effective as a pass rusher. He has shown the ability to time the snap count perfectly and use his speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles on his way to the quarterback. Hightower finished this past season with three sacks in 11 games. He also showed the ability to drop into coverage and make plays, finishing the year with two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. DJ has also shown the ability to stop the run, finishing his freshman year with 53 tackles and nine tackles for loss. He also played a role on offense, catching two touchdown passes as a freshman. DJ doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should keep a close eye on over the next few seasons.

My final “Stock Riser” to watch in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky is [player_tooltip player_id='378848' first='Nation' last='Roe-McBroom']. McBroom is a rising talent who I expect to play a much bigger role in Trinity's offense this coming season. He is a dangerous deep threat on the outside, showing the ability to use his speed to blow by opposing defensive backs with ease. McBroom is also reliable in contested catch situations, showing the athleticism to catch the ball at its highest point and strong hands to bring in catches through contact. Nation doesn't currently hold any offers but he is definitely a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.
