Murray is currently one of the fastest rising recruits in the state after an impressive spring ball and showcase that resulted in six D1 offers coming in last week from a variety of Mountain West and FCS programs. He’s a well-built 6’1” 265 lb. defensive tackle that is packed with strength and power at the POA. In addition, he flashes excellent initial quickness off the line to beat blockers out of their stance to gain positional leverage. Extremely active with his hands with a violent punch to put opponents off balance and then shed. Love his long arm technique to drive blockers back to collapse the pocket. He’s a high upside prospect that will continue to pull in D1 offers.
6 Offers: Montana Tech, Idaho State, Air Force, Idaho, Colorado State, South Dakota State, Army
Bryce Hevesy
Bryce Hevesy
Hevesy has picked up his first two offers this month and caught the eye of many more at the Saguaro showcase last week. At 6’4” 295 lbs. he’s added significant weight to his frame this offseason while maintaining his mobility and athleticism. Active feet and hands allow him to accelerate through contact at the POA and finish opponents to the ground. Shows natural bend and movement skills while staying in balance with good leverage when engaging. Good wide base to anchor down but rarely see him outside his framework. Does a good job using his hands to latch on while his strength allows him to control defenders and sustain his block throughout the play. Initially offered by Cornell several weeks ago but also recently pulled in Southern Utah. Expect more on the way as the recruiting cycle progresses.
2 Offers: Cornell, Southern Utah
Merrik Kubacki
Merrik Kubacki
Tons of upside and college potential for the now 6’5” 250 lb. Kubacki out of Casteel, adding 20 lbs. since his junior season. He’s an intriguing prospect with his combination of size, athleticism, and strength. Plays TE operating as an H or splitting out to the slot but has so much versatility in his skillset that he could transition well to multiple positions on both sides of the ball depending on development. He’s got great body control and coordination as a receiver. A natural hands catcher with a large catch radius to extend and bring in tough contested receptions in traffic. After the catch, his size and strength make him a tough tackle for any defender. Added NAU last week to go with his initial offer from Georgetown. He’ll see a bump in recruiting going forward.
2 Offers: Georgetown, NAU
Dantzler is an attacking defender and a tough block with his combination of speed and strength off the edge for Basha. He’s an athletic 6’3” 230 lbs. with good growth potential to add weight to his frame. Shows plus short area burst and lateral agility to redirect and chase the ball. Also uses it well to avoid contact and slip blockers by getting skinny and making them miss. He’s got good command of a variety of moves, good spin move and quick hands to separate and then disengage. Relentless in pursuit, he plays with great effort and aggression to finish every play. Picked up two D1 offers after the Basha showcase last week to add to his six previous offers.
7 Offers: Colorado State, Idaho, Army, Navy, San Jose State, Utah State, Central Michigan, SMU
Browder is an impressive defensive player with great instincts and burst to close. 6’1” 210 lb. linebacker that can play against every down and distance with his range and sideline to sideline ability. He runs well and shows plus change of direction to accelerate out of his break and close space. He limits wasted movement by being patient with his reads but has a fast trigger to get an early break on the ball. He anticipates where the play is going and possesses a natural feel for the game to be in the right spot to make a play. Can play in space to break down and make a one on one tackle while being violent at the contact point. Exciting player to watch fly around and make plays all over the field. Recruiting will continue to rise into his senior season.
2 Offers: NAU, Idaho
