Following my breakdown of some talented freshman defensive linemen to keep an eye on, here’s my list of the top 2027 defensive backs in Kentucky to watch for.
In the first place spot on my list is Jordan Haskins Jordan Haskins 5’11” | 170 lbs | DB Bryan Station | 2027 State KY , a defensive back at Bryan Station High School. What impresses me about Haskins is his ability to adapt and disrupt the passing game. I also like how Haskins can quickly jump in front of receivers and utilize his wingspan to both wrap up receivers in coverage and haul in the interception. Haskins also proved he can break tackles en route to the house.
I am additionally impressed with Cohen Finley Cohen Finley 6’2″ | 170 lbs | DB Pulaski County | 2027 State KY , a defensive back at Pulaski County High School. Finley stands out with his ability to read the pass and use bursts of speed to quickly jump in front of the pass and attack the ball in the air. I also like Finley’s ability to utilize the jets after the catch, proving he can break tackles, maneuver the field and punch into enemy territory.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Sekou Kamara Sekou Kamara 5’10” | 145 lbs | DB Trinity | 2027 State KY , a defensive back at Trinity High School. Kamara makes a considerable difference with his ability to read the gunslinger and utilize bursts of speed to quickly get in front of the short pass. I also like Kamara’s ability to lock down receivers in coverage with his arms, proving he can disrupt the deep pass and swat the ball out of the air.
Another skilled prospect to watch for is Wyatt Peters Wyatt Peters 6’0″ | 160 lbs | DB Woodford County | 2027 State KY , a defensive back at Woodford County High School. Peters stands out with his defensive awareness and ability to both target and drop the running back before he can reach the backfield. Peters also impresses me down the stretch, proving he can read the long pass and elevate off the ground to pick off the quarterback.
