On offense, he is their starting quarterback where he has proven to be a true dual-threat. As a passer, he has the arm to stretch the field and lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. Last season, he completed 19/36 passes for 459 yards, six touchdowns, and only one interception in 13 games. He has also shown the ability to pose as a huge threat as a ball carrier, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to pick up big gains. Herbst carried the ball 64 times for 626 yards and nine touchdowns last season. On defense, he lines up at safety where he has shown impressive ball skills in the secondary, recording two interceptions as a junior (tied for team lead). He shows similar athleticism under center, where he’s a dual-threat option for the Indians.
