Ankeny’s Daniel Larmie Daniel Larmie 5'8" | 160 lbs | RB Ankeny | 2026 State IA leads the way at the position, checking in as our No. 1 ball carrier and 17th-ranked prospect overall in the cycle. Evan Allie Evan Allie 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Algona | 2026 State IA from Algona is No. 2 at running back and 28th regardless of position.
Here’s a closer look at our Top 7 running backs in the ’26 Class:
Larmie (5-8, 170) burst onto the scene in 2023, rushing for 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns after carrying the ball only twice as a freshman. He also caught eight passes for 40 yards and a score last fall for a Hawks team that reached the state championship game. His 10th-grade highlight video reveals a back comfortable picking his way through the middle of the line because of his good vision and feel. He sets up his blocks well and can cut quickly. His skill set would work nicely in a zone scheme. Larmie appears on the official Ankeny track and field roster. None of his times or events are listed on Bound, however.
Highlights
Allie (5-10, 170) shows during his sophomore highlight video that speed is a big part of his game. The Algona Bound page lists his top 100-meter time at 11.19 and his 200 at 22.27 this spring. He competed in the 400 and three relays as a freshman at the ’23 state meet. Sharp cuts and the ability to get to top speed quickly stand out as two of Allie’s top traits. He can grind for yards between the tackles and is dangerous as a receiver. Allie is a good athlete that looks versatile enough to potentially project at slot or defensive back if a college doesn’t see him working as a running back in its system. He rushed 122 times for 744 yards and seven touchdowns, and caught 14 passes for 205 yards and a score last year.
Like Allie, (J.J.) Morgan (5-10, 180) excels in track and field. Here he is uncorking a long jump this week. He rushed 38 times for 168 yds and three touchdowns, and hauled in 12 passes for 131 yards as a sophomore on a veteran team that reached the state semifinals in ’23. His sophomore highlight video offers a glimpse at a well-rounded, versatile running back. He looks natural catching the ball and knows what to do after securing it. Morgan stays patient waiting for his blocks and bursting through holes when toting the rock. He’s been invited to an Indiana camp this summer.
Highlights
Remmert (5-10, 170) has a lot in his tool box. He can gash opponents taking a handoff or after catching a pass, as you can see watching his 10-grade highlight video. He’s showing again this spring that speed is an important part of his game. He’s running the 100 (11.07) and 200 (22.68) for the Tigers track team after competing on two relays as a freshman at last year’s state meet. On the football field in the fall, Remmert rushed 52 times for 255 yards and four touchdowns to go with 17 receptions for 263 yards and a pair of scores. He’s really dangerous in space, and Cedar Falls does a good job getting him there.
Highlights
With the productive duo of Drake Gelhaus and Drew Gerdes graduating from the Cedar Falls backfield, one could picture Fuchtman teaming up with Remmert, giving the Tigers a dangerous 1-2 punch. Fuchtman (5-8, 170) produced 664 yards and 12 touchdowns on 71 carries for the sophomore team in ’23. His 10th-grade highlight video provides evidence of Fuchtman’s elusiveness and quickness. He’s running the 100 and long jumping for the Cedar Falls this track season. He was able to get to the edge regularly as a sophomore.
Highlights
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Sahm should see more varsity action this coming fall than he did as a sophomore for the Bobcats. They might try getting the ball in his hands as much as possible with what he showed during his sophomore highlight video. He’s a big play waiting to happen once he ends up with some operating space. Sahm also can pick up tough yards inside the tackles.
Highlights
The athletic Diers (5-8, 165) is playing varsity soccer this spring after gaining 326 yards and registering three touchdowns on the ground last fall. He also caught 11 passes for 82 yards and a score as a 10th-grader. Diers runs hard with the ball as you can witness viewing his sophomore highlights. He has a strong base and drives through would-be tacklers with power. He mostly runs downhill, but cuts sharply when appropriate, following it up with a nice burst.
