Expect that to happen again within the recently updated 2026 rankings. Student-athletes can make their biggest jumps between their sophomore and junior seasons. In football, it arrives with physical and mental development in the sport.
Here’s a group of Watch List dudes capable of big performances this fall:
-Iowa City High LB/Edge KP Estremera KP Estremera 6'3" | 190 lbs | ATH Iowa City | 2026 IA ‘s Hudl Page includes a limited number of clips from last season. That said, they video we see impresses. At 6-3 with long arms, Estremera bursts off of the outside and disrupts proceedings in the opponents’ backfield.
– Ethan Headings Ethan Headings 6'2" | 175 lbs | ATH Iowa City West | 2026 IA enjoyed a solid sophomore season at West with 17 solo tackles and an interception last fall. Like Estremera, the highlight clips from last season on his Hudl Page are limited, but what is there makes you want to watch more.
-Waukee athlete Tavian White Tavian White 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Waukee | 2026 IA flashes potential on both sides of the ball and special teams during his sophomore highlight video. It will be exciting to see what he can do with more varsity reps this fall.
– Leyton Wolf Leyton Wolf 6'7" | 200 lbs | QB Cedar Falls | 2026 IA is somewhat of a unicorn as a 6-7 quarterback with mad basketball skills. The only football video on his Hudl Page is from two years ago, but it’s fun and could foreshadow a breakout in his first season as the starter in ’24.
– Jaden Ubben Jaden Ubben 6'4" | 200 lbs | DL Cedar Falls | 2026 IA has a collection of different clips on his Hudl Page. They show an athletic performer at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds with a chance to impact an always talented program in this coming campaign.
– Broderick Sabers Broderick Sabers 6'6" | 220 lbs | OL Dubuque Hempstead | 2026 IA features individual game highlights on his Hudl Page. When you consider that on them you’re watching a 6-6, 220-pound sophomore with athleticism and physicality, it’s worth keeping an eye on how the ’24 season plays out.
-As a sophomore last season, Conlan Poynton Conlan Poynton QB Solon | 2026 IA rushed for almost 1,000 yards with 14 touchdowns. The athleticism and speed he displays running with the ball also works well on defense, as you can see on his highlight video. He could have a huge junior year.
-Like others on this list, the video on Johari Muigai Johari Muigai 5'9" | 170 lbs | DB Ames | 2026 IA ‘s Hudl Page is limited. Also like the other guys, it will be interesting to watch Muigai’s junior highlights. It’s not easy finding productive cover corners, and he has a chance to be that.
-It looks like Joe Mausser Joe Mausser 6'1" | 230 lbs | OL WDM Valley | 2026 IA could take a step forward as a junior after watching what he has posted on his Hudl Page. It’s a combination of strength, athleticism and quickness that intrigues.
– Tate Carter Tate Carter 6'3" | 250 lbs | OL Algona | 2026 IA shows in the few plays from his Hudl Page that he has agility and an aptitude for playing center. At 6-3, 250 pounds, that makes him very interesting moving forward.
