Scrivens looks bigger than the 280 pounds in which he is listed.
What stood out about Scrivens was his quickness off the ball and how explosive he is out of his stance.
He beat some offensive lineman off the ball so badly he was able to get by them before they could even land their initial punch. Scrivens showed a good mix of speed and power moves.
NEXT TWO
Claiborne is a veteran to the camp circuit and you can tell by watching him go through drills.
He went through the individual drills with good technique, comfort and was always in the front of the line. As an edge rusher he is a solid hand fighter and gets off the ball quickly.
Claiborne recently was offered by Northern Arizona.
Highlights
Dean Kirkland
Dean Kirkland
Kirkland was an impressive athlete and I’m willing to bet he finished among the top of the group in the speed drills.
He had 6.5 sacks last season and you can see during one-on-ones he is a gifted pass rusher. Kirkland has good control of his body and even when he doesn’t “win” the rep, he’s still in solid position.
Kirkland is a 4.0 GPA kid with a good frame to add some size and good football instincts. I expect some offers to come his way soon.
HONORABLE MENTION
Stevens got some playing time as a sophomore for Servite last season and had 18 tackles with a sack.
He has since transferred to Edison. Stevens is a rugby guy and you can tell he isn’t afraid to use his body to get into the offensive lineman’s chest and push him back.
As a pass rusher, he has a variety of moves with his hands and knows how to catch the offensive lineman leaning. He has a good foundation and time in the weight room will help him greatly.
