Smith had one of the more lively arms there all weekend and was whipping the rock with ease. The wind impacted a handful of QBs this weekend, but Smith was not one of them. His incredibly quick release and the way he snaps his wrist when he throws the ball helps it slice right through the wind. He’s accurate and doesn’t have an issue putting the ball into tight spots. The guys on his team love him and all the way to the championship round, you could feel the confidence from the team radiate as long as they had Smith.

I’ve been a longtime fan of Buchanan and he was good again this weekend. He’s always one of the more consistent QBs anytime he steps on the field. His knock has always been height, but it’s never once affected his game-play. His arm is good, he’s got such a smooth release, and his best trait is accuracy. He knows where to go with the ball and doesn’t hesitate getting it out on time. They were in the thick of it all weekend and it was because of the consistency they’ve got a QB with Buchanan. He heads into his Senior year as one of the most intriguing recruits to watch long-term because his athletic ability keep him on the field somewhere.

It was a good weekend for the upcoming Senior QB. He was clearly one of the older and more experience QBs there this weekend and it poked through a couple of times. He wasn’t afraid to get on his guys and correct them where needed. He’s able to throw with anticipation and when he gets into a rhythm, he’s hard to slow down. He’s a big frame QB who has the build to withstand hits in the pocket as well. A quick check of his tape shows a bunch of the same traits as well. The team outcome may not have been what they wanted, but the Michigan boys had a good weekend and Betser led the way.

It has been a steady road of development for Coellner and this weekend was good to see, because he’s developed physically as well as mentally. He’s got a big arm, a nice build, and sits pretty in the pocket. His footwork is clearly something he’s spent a ton of time working on and cleaning up and it’s paying dividends already. His accuracy and timing was noticeably better and he didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger when he saw something come open. Of all the QBs who were there this weekend, it’s Coellner who has the most mystery around him when you look at his potential because it’s clear he’s on the right path.
