I am breaking down the fourteen Tight Ends who were ranked in addition to mentioning the seven who made our Watch List. I previously covered Tight End Ranks 1-5 and 6-10 that included two honorable mention ATHs who play Tight End. In this article, I break down Tight Ends 11-14 plus the seven Watch List Tight Ends in our rankings.
Jack is a receiving TE who provides a big target for his QB who can line up split out or in-line. Solid release off the line of scrimmage, not taking false steps with good acceleration into his route. Solid route running, able to run short routes and seams up the middle. He displays good Zone Processing with an understanding of when to sit in the route to provide the QB a land to throw in.
Ryder has good height and is a hybrid Tight End who can align in the backfield, split out, or in-line. He displays solid receiving ability from all alignments on the field with a basic route tree. He plays solid route running and has soft hands with solid transition quickness into a runner after the catch to create extra yards. He is a willing blocker in both Gap and Zone schemes and his athleticism allows him to create blocks on the second level.
Tyberius is a Hybrid Tight End for Monticello. He shows good acceleration, hip fluidity, and speed with solid lateral agility and change of direction. He primarily lines up as an off-ball Tight End allowing him to play in space and utilize his athleticism against the defense. As a receiver, he shows solid release off the ball, quickly accelerating into his routes, providing a quick target for his QB, and can run routes on all levels of the field. He is a solid blocker in Gap and Zone schemes.
I previously mentioned Landon in one of my Game Report articles from the 2023 season. His high motor and competitive toughness stuck out to me that day. Watching his season highlights shows that he was a relentless player every game. He is a willing blocker who fights through the whistle. He comes off the snap with good quickness and good leg drive in his run blocks. He also can run basic routes providing an extra receiving option in the passing game. Be sure to not miss his defensive film as well as an EDGE defender showing good lateral quickness and tackling ability.
The next set of Players are Tight Ends who are on our state Watch List and are worth mentioning.
Thomas is an H-Back/Tight End who shows ability in the receiving game and as a blocker blocking. He can align in multiple positions. He looks bigger than his measurables on the field and plays with good physical toughness. He also shows ability to throw the ball if necessary and is a Long Snapper on special teams. He is not someone to overlook in our TE rankings.
Highlights
There is no Hudl film for Michael, but he plays for Blue Ridge who went 9-2 last season. He has solid height at 6’3″ and perhaps we will see him on the field this fall.
Daniel put together his season highlight film after we evaluated players for the rankings and he is worth watching. He has good height at 6’4″ and shows good receiving skills in route running, hands, adjust, and run after catch. He plays more of a WR role for King George and has a role to play on a team that is looking for his skill set. Expect him to be making plays for King George this fall.
Henry is a blocking Tight End for Highland Springs who is trusted to make key blocks on the edge and in the second and third levels that give the ball carrier the space needed to make a big play. He has good sustain on his blocks and can be used in Gap and Zone blocking schemes. Also provides a big target as a receiver with the ability to adjust to and catch balls thrown outside of his frame.
There is limited film available for the 2023 season on Jack. He has solid height and size and is a good competitor on film. He is a willing blocker at the line of scrimmage and will look to make blocks downfield for his teammates to make a path to the endzone. He also shows ability in the receiving game as well. He is one to keep an eye on this fall.
No updated film from the 2023 season. Shows older film from 2021 and 2022 that show him running routes out of an in-line position. Also plays Baseball for William Campbell.
No updated film from the 2023 or 2022 season. Hudl has older film from the 2021 season with an interception on defense.
