Many penalties were called on both sides, but Brookville ultimately was able to overcome and put points on the board. Despite the score, both teams have quality players who stand out. Below, I cover the players who caught my eye Friday night.
Jor’dyn Whitelaw
Jor’dyn Whitelaw
The William and Mary commit showed why he has the offer. He has quick feet and should become a good one cut zone running back. He displays quick, elusive feet that produce a good jump cut to run through the hole. He does not display much in power running, but he displays good physical toughness to be a three down back for Brookville. I found no record of his height and size, but he is on the smaller side. I expect he can become a good change of pace back in college.
Jonathan Stonelake
Jonathan Stonelake
Jonathan serves as the kicker, punter, and kick off specialist for the Lancers. He has a strong leg and was making his warm up field goals at 50 yards and connected on his one field goal attempt in the game. Overall, I liked his punting more than his kicking. He displayed the ability to pin opponents inside the 20 yard line and kick with accuracy, with good bounce. If any college is looking to add a kicker or punter, Jonathan should be on their radar.
Devonte Wade
Devonte Wade
Devonte is a playmaker across the field for the Lancers. He plays best as a downhill safety where he can read the play and react to the ball. He is a hard hitter, and many of his tackles were heard and felt in the stands causing audible reactions from the crowd. His film shows he has good hands to make interceptions, and he has good instincts to create yards after interceptions. He also serves as the punt and kick returner for the Lancers and was 2nd Team All Region as a punt returner last season, in addition to being awarded 1st Team All Region as a safety.
Should be no surprise that Micah Pennix Micah Pennix 6’1″ | 270 lbs | DL Brookville | 2024 State VA is showing up on my game report. Micah is currently Prep Redzone’s 21st overall prospect in the State of Virginia and the 3rd ranked defensive lineman. He led the Brookville defensive line that stuffed the Lancers’ running game all night, and he showed up to make plays in critical situations including a sack. He is quick off the snap and has very good use of hands and upper body strength that allows him to quickly shed blocks and finish the play by tackling the ball carrier.
Landon plays EDGE on defense and TE on offense for the Bees. He was also a big part of stuffing the run game for the Lancers. As a sophomore, he was named to the Second Team All District for the Seminole District. He displays good strength at the point of attack, able to hold his ground and shed blocks on defense, and move defenders when blocking on offense. He drives through the ball carrier with good technique when he makes a tackle. He has a high motor and plays through the whistle always looking to make a play.
