However, each recruit has a ton of potential and in my eyes were standouts at the varsity level as sophomores. If they can show that ability on the summer camp circuit, I think some offers could come relatively quickly.
As always, If you have someone you think I need to see, please DM them to me on Twitter at @hsfbscout!
OL: Cian Mahoney, 6’5″ 250, Sacred Heart-Griffin
There’s a lot to like about Mr. Mahoney; size, athleticism, bend, and the ability to displace defenders. If he can show consistent nastiness throughout, I think he’ll be a no-brainer Power-Four type kid. I love this kid’s potential.
WR: Trenton Walker, 6’3″ 180, Nazareth
Walker is a possession-type receiver who is slippery after the catch and shows superb concentration on contested throws. He shakes a defender then immediately looks to get vertical and easily defeats press man with hands & feet that work in unison. He can go up and climb the ladder on high throws and plays with supreme confidence.
LB/EDGE: Leon Howard Leon Howard 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB East St. Louis | 2026 State IL 6’2″ 220, East St. Louis
A violent block shedder at the point of attack who looks to deliver the boom on opposing offensive linemen. This kid will line up wherever you ask him to and fight to make a play. His mixture of aggression and motor make him a really fun watch on tape. I’m not sure what position he’ll play at the next level, but trust me this is the kind of player you want on your team.
WR: Blaise LaVista, 6’2″ 190, Libertyville
I’ve written about Blaise before and think he’s got serious upside for the next level. He has plenty of speed to run under the deep ball, he’s got the body control to adjust on underthrows, and shows strong hands going over the middle. He can line up in the backfield and generate explosive plays and has an angry running style after the catch.
CB: Ahmad Buchanan Ahmad Buchanan 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Richards | 2026 State IL 6′ 185, Richards
Ahmad’s got pretty good size for a corner, he knows how to midpoint in zone and has the leaping ability to make a play on the jump ball. He’s violent ripping through the arm to break up passes, and he’s got a good feel for route concepts & what they’re trying to exploit.
