Gilbert is an offensive weapon and electric playmaker with the ball in his hands. 5’10” 170 lbs. but he’s a strider with track level speed that translates well to the football field. Extremely quick to accelerate and breakaway from defenders in space as a WR, RB, or KR. At receiver, he’s a plus route runner that is fast out of his stance to release and can drop his hip level stopping on a dime to break off defenders at the top. Possesses a wide route tree with his ability to go across the middle or stretch the field vertically. Strong ball skills, he’s got good reactionary quickness at the catch point to adjust and come down with tough receptions in traffic. He’s at his best with the ball in his hands after the catch or out of the backfield where he can create and be a threat to score every time he touches it. Recruitment is picking up with his first P4 offer coming in from Washington State to add to his handful of G5 offers.
4 Offers: Washington State, UNLV, Colorado State, San Jose State
At 6’2” 180 lbs. McDaniel is a rhythm passer with a smooth over the top delivery. He’s a savvy athlete with the foot quickness to get into his drop and the pocket mobility to elude defenders while keeping his eyes downfield. Does a good job extending the play with his legs and improvising under pressure. Accurate to all areas of the field he throws with timing and can fit the ball into tight spaces where only his receiver can make a play. Good ability to throw from various arm angles and off balance platforms without sacrificing accuracy or velocity. Shows he can mix up speeds with good touch and trajectory to layer the ball over second level defenders. Not afraid to tuck it and move the chains with his legs when protection breaks down. Transferred to Colony to play out his senior year where he’s hoping to build on his four FCS offers.
4 Offers: Portland State, Campbell, Bethune-Cookman, Houston Christian
Highlights
Impressive dual-sport D1 prospect who committed to San Diego State for baseball but flashed as a high level RB during the fall for Chaminade. At 5’11” 185 lbs. he’s got a well-built frame and good natural ball carrier instincts. He presses the line quickly and uses his short area burst to accelerate through the first level and find space. He’s dangerous once he finds a gap, he makes quick explosive cuts around defenders and possesses a sustained second gear to break away. Love his field vision and spatial awareness to know where defenders are and use their leverage/momentum against them. Carries the ball with good contact balance and pad level to run through tacklers at the LOS, rare to see him go down on first contact. He’s one of the top RB’s in the state without an offer and wouldn’t be surprised to see some D1 programs to take a shot to flip his baseball commitment.
St. Laurent is one of the best kept secrets in the bay area. At 6’2” 180 lbs. he’s got a good combination of size, athleticism, and technical ability. He runs well with deceptive speed and is able to change gears to create separation as a route runner. Natural pass catcher that attacks the ball with his hands with good extension to give him a catch radius that goes beyond his framework. Uses his length and leaping ability well to compete for the ball at the high point. Possesses good body control and tracking ability to time out his jump and play the ball in tight spaces. Like his creativeness after the catch, he’s patient as he finds an angle and then accelerates through to break away from defenders in space. Transferred out of Bellarmine to Branham for his senior year where he might see more opportunities to showcase his skillset. Recently picked up his first offer from Air Force but has the talent/ability to jump up recruiting boards and rankings quickly.
1 Offer: Air Force
Good size, length, and growth potential for an OT prospect at 6’6” 290 lbs. He’s got an athletic build with good weight distribution in both his upper and lower body. A plus athlete that possesses natural movement skills and bend. Shows he can move his feet and match lateral movement to stay in front as a run blocker and in pass pro. Does a great job gaining early positional leverage out of his stance. Active and strong hands allowing him to stick to his block and control defenders throughout the play, also flashed a good ability to quickly reposition when they’re knocked down. He stays balanced and under control at the POA keeping his feet underneath his body and rarely gets outside his framework. Recruiting stock is on the rise with two offers coming in from Sacramento State and Nevada in March.
