Robinson is a dynamic athlete with a great combination of size, speed, and ball skills. At 6’3” 190 lbs. he’s got ideal length and growth potential in his frame. Plus game speed, he’s a long strider that can accelerate in the short area and possesses a sustained second gear to break away from defenders as a WR or close space at DB. High-level body control and coordination give him great ball skills, he’s able to track and adjust to ball flight and is a strong hands catcher of the football. Finished the 2023 season with 22 receptions for 515 yards and six touchdowns on offense adding 69 total tackles and four interceptions at DB. Being recruited on both sides of the ball his recruitment has exploded since the beginning of the offseason with 10 D1 offers coming in from top programs such as UCLA, Utah, Arkansas, Washington, and Penn State. Expect more to come in and for him to continue to climb the rankings going into his senior year.
10 Offers: UCLA, Utah, Arkansas, Boise State, Colorado State, Kansas, Penn State, San Diego State, Utah State, Washington
Cardwell is a versatile athlete whose skillset transitions well to both sides of the ball at WR and DB. At 6’3” 180 lbs. he uses his length well to play the ball at the high point with good timing, extension, and leaping ability. Possesses a lot of upside as a major D1 DB prospect where he is smooth with his movement and footwork. He transitions well out of his backpedal and into his break using his short area burst to close space with the ball in the air. A physical DB that can jam receivers at the LOS to force them off their line and gain positional leverage from the snap. He’s patient limiting wasted movement but his reactionary quickness and speed allows him to stay in phase at all three levels. Strong genes, brother Byron Cardwell was a top RB recruit in the 2023 class that racked up 23 offers before committing to Oregon and then transferring to Cal. Recruiting stock has continued to rise since the new year bringing in nine D1 offers including four P4 programs.
9 Offers: Boise State, Arizona, San Jose State, Washington State, Oregon State, Central Michigan, San Diego State, Cal, Colorado State
At 5’10” 160 lbs. Smith is a quick and explosive athlete with great lateral agility. He’s a difference maker in all three phases at WR, DB, and KR. Excels with the ball in his hands where he can use his elusiveness and quick cut ability to make defenders miss. Crean Lutheran does a good job being creative in how they get him touches. They get him the ball on short screens, push him vertically, and design end arounds to get him into space and extend gains. He mixes up speeds well to create running lanes but his initial burst once he triggers allows him separate from defenders. Love his instincts and vision to make a play out of nothing with defenders closing in. Recruitment got off to a fast start last October with three offers coming in a week from Campbell, Portland State, and UNLV. Has also taken visits to Boise State and San Diego State.
3 Offers: Campbell, Portland State, UNLV
A pure football player that is impressive on both sides of the ball at LB and RB. At 6’1” 210 lbs. he’s a plus athlete that can run. Possesses natural movement skills and great closing speed in pursuit to redirect and chase. He’s got a great nose for the football and the ability to quickly diagnose run/pass to put himself in position to make big time plays. Violent at the POA he brings heavy thump to every play exploding on contact with good leverage and leg drive. Projects as a three down college level LB where he can be equally effective as a run stopper and dropping back into coverage. Filled the stat sheet and racked up numerous post season accolades as a junior finishing with 166 total tackles, 27 TFL, and 14 forced fumbles/recoveries adding 1,300 scrimmage yards and 19 touchdowns on offense. Voted All-State, League MVP, and All CIF SS MVP. Recruitment is building now holding six D1 offers from a variety of FBS and FCS programs.
6 Offers: Wyoming, Idaho, UC Davis, Washington State, San Jose State, Nevada
Highlights
Kotiranta possesses a multi-dimensional skillset at 5’11” 175 lbs. A natural DB/WR prospect with savvy athleticism and strong ball skills. Could play either side of the ball at the college level but really flashed at safety as a junior at San Clemente. He’s got good speed giving him the range to cover all areas of the field effectively. High football IQ and instincts to anticipate where the ball is going and trigger into his break. Strong in coverage, he shows a good ability to recognize routes as the play is developing to step into throwing lanes and make a play on the ball. Comes downhill hard in run support initiating contact while breaking down in space to be a reliable 1on1 open field tackler. He takes good angles of pursuit to the ball and uses his short area acceleration to close space in a hurry. He’s a dual sport athlete (football/track) and voted First Team All-League DB in 2023. Should see a bump in recruiting as the cycle progresses.
